Markos is a horrible spokesman for the progressive movement
Every time I see this guy I TV it makes me cringe. He's on Real Time right now and has barely said a thing and is getting steam rolled but a lying teabagger woman from who knows where. Why can't we have strong and powerful voices in the media?

3. He strikes me as a nice guy, a sincere guy...a smart guy...

but, unfortunately, he also looks very much like he is 12 years old. That makes it easy for others to roll over him.

I would very much like to see Sam Seder in his place.

6. I would say the same thing. Except that he is a writer and a good one.
So perhaps he doesn't have his chops on live tv. So he needs to get more experience or stick to his blog.

advocate, against abortion and considers women's issues to be 'pet issues' which drove most women off his blog several years ago. He believes the CIA is a liberal organization and revealed that he signed up for the CIA around the time, just before he says, he started his blog.

Many people think he was chosen as the spokesperson because he is willing to and has changed his opinions on issues from one day to the next depending on what the message from the party is at the time. He also hates 'hippies' (the same way rightwingers hate them) and has made no secret of it on his blog.

He's a perfect MSM spokesperson as he will never bite the hand that feeds him. He is a messenger for the party and his blog was the beginning of the end of the opportunity for real people to use the internet to influence politics. The PTBs realized that they had to choose who would speak for the 'online community' otherwise one of those dirty hippies might end up on TV and there was no way that was going to happen.

He was given the microphone, he didn't earn it nor was he elected to it. Not only is he not very progressive on the issues he is not a very good writer. Far better writers on his blog have been silenced, including some well-known bloggers who are highly respected.

A real progressive blog is needed but they drew in unsuspecting people by claiming to be liberal until they had enough of a membership not to have to cater to them anymore. So many have left or been banned from that blog they are lucky if they have even 10,000 regular readers and that's being generous. The Front Page is strictly controlled with links only to approved publications, including most of the MSM. There is never any interesting or independent links there except for in the personal diaries.

Most people realized long ago that if you want independent thinking and action, DK is not the place to go. It is the online cop to keep liberals under control. At least for now. They only survived because Bush had a way of uniting people against a common enemy.

I don't know who appointed kos to speak for the online community because he never spoke for anyone I know and remains one of the least popular people online.

Far more representative of the online community are the minority blogs. They are genuinely progressive and not beholden to anyone. Money has destroyed much of what could have been a very powerful tool for ordinary citizens. DK and several other blogs, including FDL all belong to a coalition of blogs who link back and forth to each other and are on private email lists where it was discovered a while ago, they decide on how to control the message on their blogs.

So, I totally agree with the OP. If people view him as a liberal which is not by any means, it can only make people cringe. No one appointed him to speak for us, he was chosen to do so and should stop claiming he has any power online, he does not, not even on his own blog a lot of the time.

9. Until we get past this business of "Democrats do not do that..".
How often on this very site do we read.... I would rather
lose than have our candidates go tit for tat with Republicans.

If you never see our leaders stand up and land a punch, activists
will continue to think it is unacceptable and lose elections.

If we never scrap among ourselves, we are never prepared to
go up against the opposition.
