Newest Disgusting Sandwich -- Krispy Kreme Cheeseburger
Newest Disgusting Sandwich -- Krispy Kreme Cheeseburger

Following in the footsteps of KFC's Double Down and that giant pizza/burger thing at Burger King, they cooked up something awful at the World Food Festival in Iowa -- a Krispy Kreme cheeseburger. And yes, it's just what you think -- a cheeseburger on a Krispy Kreme Donut. Apparently this has been done before, but it doesn't make it any less gross:

5. That does sound pretty gross,

but the Double Down doesn't quite deserve the bad press. I had one last week and found it considerably smaller than I expected, not as sloppy, and better tasting.

7. I think it's been around for a few years
And Krispy Kreme has introduced an earlier version of it. I think it's also called the Luther Burger. Every time you eat one, a cardiologist cries.

11. They had those at the Florida State Fair last year...along with deep fried butter & deep fried pepsi
Edited on Tue Oct-12-10 09:15 PM by Heddi
I took a picture of the booths just to prove it was real:

There was a guy in line ordering one. Actually he was ordering a double-cheese, double-burger, with bacon Krispy Kreme burger. He's some fucking slob and he's yelling at the woman in the booth "More bac'un! Put more bac'un on it, bitch!"....

13. these guys aren't the only ones
Carl's Jr. has got the footlong cheeseburger they are experimenting with

Carl's Jr. Testing a "Footlong Cheeseburger"

Carl’s Jr. simply couldn’t sit still too long while KFC hopped into the sandwich game with their Double Down from days ago. It looks like they’re trying to make some waves with this new “Footlong Cheeseburger” they’re testing out at one of my local Santa Ana, CA, locations. The sandwich comes along with some chuckles, to say the least. It sells for $4 (the plain cheeseburger), and the deluxe is set at $4.50 (comes with all the fixings, lettuce, tomatoes, onions). The combo meals are set at $6.50 for the cheeseburger version and $7.00 for the deluxe footlong.

The 12-inch burger is wrapped like a sandwich, and sticks out of most of the to-go bags offered up at the location, so it was definitely an interesting sight. I’m not sure how well the burger will fair, it’s basically just a few patties and ingredients mimicking a sub sandwich, which may end up not helping its overall appeal. The dough on the bread seems a little off, but the execution of the entire sandwich still remains interesting and I’m intrigued to say the least. As for the patty, it actually consists of smaller individual patties, instead of one larger piece (which may have earned it some more “craziness points“). Maybe they will make some modifications if they decide to roll this burger out nationally. Until then, what do you guys think of the pictures, or if you’ve tried it yourself, please share your thoughts with us!

26. NEW???
Luther Burgers (named for soul man Luther Vandross) have been around for at least a decade or two.

Of course, maybe his love for these tasty creations (scoff if you like, but they taste pretty freaking good - I make them for our 4th of July party every year and most folks LOVE them....after scoffing 1st, LOL) is why he died so young...
