Comment of the Day: Don't Worry, President Obama Is Going to Be Just Fine
Barack Obama will win, and it doesn't matter whether the economy gets better, and it doesn't matter whether health care turns out well, and he doesn't even have to become more progressive to do it. He will win because the GOP has no one who can run a sustained, national campaign who is not a lowdown, dirty nutball without serious negatives. To defeat Barack Obama, you're going to have to raise $1 billion and for two years you're going to have to campaign steadily, which means having every nook and cranny that falls from your mouth published and picked over on blogs and TV talk shows and there is no way that any of their big names can do this. None. At. All.

1. a bit overstated but I tend to agree with the substance of the argument
I expect the tea party v. the old school 'pukes to be the real fight, and I can't wait to see their version of PUMA

5. Please work to make it happen ...
The ONLY thing that matters at this point is getting voters to the polls on November 2nd.

You can help do that.

Volunteer down at Democratic HQ. They need people to make phone calls, knock on doors, compile lists of local events, do data entry, etc.

Help others get their early ballots in case they can't get out on election day.

Get a yard sign.

Talk to your cousin/nephew/aunt etc.

We need to focus on this or the next two years of DU will be not about how to improve the country, but about limiting damage.

thanks,

Scuba

8. We don't want that. We want the teaparty to continue to split the vote on the
right.

4. The real fight, if any, will be in the Democratic primary
Obama vs. Clinton eclipsed by a wide margin Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin in terms of actual votes.

6. In case you didn't notice,
for the first 8 years of the present century, there was not just one, but two, lowdown, dirty nutballs with serious negatives who held the highest positions of the national government. You should listen to the nuts on the hinterland radio sometimes (my suggestion: KRMG Internet talk radio, out of Tulsa, but there are lots of others). They talk like that era was some kind of Golden Age.

7. So, if the President does nothing at all, that's OK, too?
Please, that's just silly.
