Pope outlines latest effort revive Christianity
Pope outlines latest effort revive Christianity

By NICOLE WINFIELD, Associated Press Writer Nicole Winfield, Associated Press Writer – Tue Oct 12, 9:28 am ET
VATICAN CITY – Pope Benedict XVI formally created a new Vatican office Tuesday to revive Christianity in Europe, his latest attempt to counter secular trends in traditionally Christian countries.

In a decree, Benedict said the new office would promote church doctrine, use the media to get the church's message out and mobilize missionary-type activities.

The 1960's Youth Revolution was a direct assault on authority -- especially patriarchy --

it was about sex, but it was also about religion, health care, big pharma, natural child

birth, breast feeding, alternative energy, environment -- and lessening fears of our fellow

citizens. You know, the kind of mood which doesn't make you feel like running out to buy

a GOP/NRA gun!

In the 1980's, the GOP gave start-up funding to the Christian Coalition -- Richard Scaife

funded Dobson's group -- and other wealthy right wingers funded Bauer's group.

Everything the right wing has and does is bought and paid for -- from their GOP-sponsored

fascist rally to stop the vote counting in Miami-Dade county in 2000 -- to their current

astroturf T-baggers which is bought and paid for and run by Dick Armey out of a PR firm!

Believe Cheney when he tells you that the "right wing creates the reality" and the rest of

us live it!!

1. Maybe they should do a remake of the Inquisition and the Crusades
since those both worked out so well for them the last time.
:sarcasm:

2. Last year he announced his statement on the Church that was focused upon
"Evangelizing".
Pope is a hard core conservative and bears more similarities to the Evangelicals than he does to the the traditions of the Catholic Church. He is destroying what remains of the Church which leads me to wonder if he is intentionally doing it in order to attempt to merge the extreme Evangelists with the frail Catholic Church.

7. Interesting comments .....
About 20 years ago, the Vatican wrote off Canada, US, and Western Europe --

freedom from male-supremacist religion is also a powerful idea which jumps borders!

This Pope is supposedly moving the church to EVANGELISM -- and evidently they have

found their new fortunes rising in Africa and China!

This your analysis is perceptive ...

wonder if he is intentionally doing it in order to attempt to merge the extreme Evangelists with the frail Catholic Church.

We can also see how anxious the Vatican must have been for Bush's nod on turning over

tax payer dollars for the Vatican's "faith-based" organizations -- it's the Catholic Church

which has most of those organizations!

Pedophile lawsuits are expensive!!

8. That is another part of it. Also, they work supporting illegal immigration
because most of the new Catholics are Hispanic.

9. Apologies for the typos ... and ....
I get the point of what you're saying here .....

Also, they work supporting illegal immigration

Hadn't heard that before -- but makes sense --

In what ways do they do that?

:)

3. Message to Joey Ratzinger: If you really want to "revive Christianity"
Why don't you try actually living according to My teachings?

And you can start by issuing the millstones to every last pedophile "priest" in your organization. And you know exactly what I mean by that.

And stop calling yourself "infallible", you jackass. That only applies to Me. Not any mortals.

5. The only thing he could possibly do on his end
would be to sell all the Vatican's treasures and order all the princes of the church out to do the work the cash would finance.

6. They don't have a clue. Really. Marriage Equality in Spain. Spain! And they want to somehow...
make their church seem relevant.

10. An apology starting with about year 325 of the Common Era would be good.
And continuing up to today.
