cracks in the foundation of democracy. Sawyer has taken a beating here.

Absence of debate before invasion. Al is tearing up Sawyer and MSM for focusing on Britney, etc while serious mistakes are being made. Every time she asks another stupid question, he left hooks her approach to issues.

Al Gore :yourock:

Run Al run!

5. Sweet. Al gets it!
He is not letting her change the subject.
He is not letting her set the agenda.
He keeps dragging her back kicking and screaming to HIS agenda.
He's smiling the whole time.

Al has learned a lot.

He'll be back on a later segment this morning to talk more about THE MEDIA.

6. Im almost thru Assault on Reason
My library put out 3 copies of Assault on Reason last Friday even though it's not released until today (tomorrow?). It RIPS bush a new a**hole.

I was expecting a more academic book, you know about how we cant think anymore in this country.... no it HITS like a ton of bricks. ALL the stuff you hear no DU, all the schemes, the back dealing, the TREASON of bush, rove, et all. Backed up with examples, sources, tied in with the shredding of democracy.

I'm betting AL is in full attack mode now - he HAS to be with what he has in the book. Should be an interesting week. Im expecting a HUGE backlash from the right.

8. Thank you!
Saw this post in time to catch the "interview". They'll be going back to it in a minute.

Gore's doing a great job of making his points, Diane Sawyer is really shown to be the lightweight that she is. He complains that there isn't enough talk about seriou smatters and she asks him about his weight. He laughed and said "listen to that question!" and touched on how it's cosmetic. Said instead of all teh coverage abou Britanny and Anna Nichole Smith and that stuff we should be more engaged in the important things.

I look forward to the next segment! Thanks again for posting or I would have missed this.

16. Here's the game:
He wants to run, but he also wants a serious conversation about issues.

The media wants to discourage him from running and they know his pet peeve, so they will only ask him "Are you losing weight?" and "Did you invent the Internet?" and "how much electricity do YOU use?" and that sort of stuff.

21. Because Gore ran before is WHY he'd be so good now - he KNOWS it's a different
media world we live in today that doesn't even resemble the newsmedia of the early 90s - not when it comes to covering politics and governance in any balanced way.

Anyone who thinks THEIR Dem is immune hans't been paying attention - the only Dems who DO get immunity or positive coverage are those Dems carrying water for BushInc.

27. That's why someone familiar with the pitfalls media DIGS under Dems is the way
to go - too few have gotten that in the party - mostly the brilliant 'startegists' who say we 'lost' to values voters, weak national security Dems, or Rove's genius.

All bullshit reasons while they rake in their million dollar salaries.

Counter the corporate media and secure the election process from fraud and Democrats will win in the landslides they earned.

31. I love some of the comments on the ABC News site...
Here are some prime examples:

Al Gore as President?! Can you image a worse nightmare?!!! The man is not stable. I really think he has major psychological problems. The loss of the presidency did something to his mind and he has never been the same. His misguided rant about the environment is a good example. Many, many notable scientists at MIT, Yale, etc, etc, have stated over and over that there is no such global warming as Gore describes, yet he persists that there is and refuses to listen to reason. There is no way an intelligent person would vote for this man. I would never pay money for this book but I can imagine what he said about Bush. He was not a gracious loser and seems unable to get over the loss. I almost feel sorry for him.

And this gem...

I am so sick of this country downing our president. We are in a war of our lifetime. There is alot that the public does not know and the president does. We have not been attacked because of him, not by luck. The only issue I have is securing our boders. He has not done nothing with that, but all in all, unemployment is at an all time low. Remeber the slogan divide and conquer. The terrorists know they just have to divide us which is what is happening, and then sooner or later they will have us all knealing and praying to allah...so much for religous freedom

I am shaking my head in astonishment, yet it does not surprise me. These two posts prove Al's point alright!

34. *That's* what Al's up to!!!! I finally get it!!!
Whether or not he runs isn't the point. He's decided, whether or not he runs for President, to let it rip, no holds barred! If, after having done so, he feels he's still in position to run for President...he'll do it. If he finds it impossible to have taken on the media, taken on the military industrial complex, taken on the powers-that-be AND have a chance of winning the Presidency, he' won't run. But, perhaps he feels that he will have won either way...speaking the truth to power and doing the right thing regardless.

In other words, he's put truth and honesty above politics. *If* a political future can flow from this, even better...but he's not gonna censor himself for the purpose of politics.

Al Gore has become fully actualized.

Willing to let it rip - even if he becomes the magnet for a shitstorm of retaliation. Get the word out and if he has to sacrifice so be it. OTOH it could take off and change how politics is covered. THEN you have a movement.

40. A non-campaign campaign
I think you're right. I think he's testing his ideas to see if the American public accepts them. Besides, as long as he does not declare, he is free to be covered by more than just the D.C. Beltway crowd. Gore's popularity has gone way up now that the political media isn't calling the shots. Gore's been featured in magazines from "GQ" to "People" and he's been on television shows like Oprah where people were able to see Gore passionately advocating for the environment. Americans are finally seeing Gore the man, the man that the political media maligned in early times.

He's has also single-handedly wrestled the "morality" mantle from the GOP. He has focused the question of morality onto issues that affect mankind, not single issue voters. He's redefined the moral debate and, from the interview this morning, he appears intent on doing the same thing in the media. He took control of the interview and got it back to ideas, facts and civil discussion whenever Sawyer started off with the usual script. Gore is redefining politics.

I've told my husband for weeks that one of the greatest things about Gore is his record especially since the SCOTUS decision. He has been outspoken on everything from why Bush should fire his economic team to the raping of our Consititution. He has been outfront and on the record on a number of issues and he's one of the few potential candidates who can say, "back in 2000 (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007)I said..." and show that he took a firm stance.

I also look at him as the poster boy for another important issue: election fraud. We know that he was elected in 2000 by the people. We know that more people voted for him nationwide and in Florida. If he runs, you better believe that election fraud and reform will be a big issue. You can also bet that Gore will continue to advocate from freedom on the internet.

that wasn't a story it was the reporter editorializing... "some liberals..." blaa blaa blaa... it sucked.

Now I'm listening to Sawyer... what a asshole. I love the feigned outrage over Gore's comments regarding Iraq. "Are you saying that 3,000 died unnecessarily..." :O... :wtf:

Gore does slap her down good. Well worth it. Thanks for posting the link.

Edited on Mon May-21-07 11:33 AM by indie_voter
One of them points to Snopes as saying Gore uses more energy, etc BUT neglects to point out that Snopes also says this:

"it's about four times larger than the average new American home built in 2006, and it essentially functions as both a residence and a business office since both Al and Tipper work out of their home. The Tennessean also noted that the Gores had been paying a $432 per month premium on their monthly electricity bills in order to obtain some of their electricity from "green" sources (i.e., solar or other renewable energy sources). Other factors (such as the climate in the area where the home is located and its size) make the Gore home's energy usage comparable to that of other homes in the same area. "

That person assumes people won't research it themselves. :p
