NEW YORK (AP) - Members of a street gang who discovered one of their teenage recruits was gay brutally beat and tortured him and two other people in gruesome assaults, police said. The attack came amid heightened attention nationwide to anti-gay bullying after a string of suicides attributed to it last month.

Seven of the suspects in the attacks were arrested and being held pending arraignment on charges of robbery, sodomy, menacing and assault as hate crimes. Two others were being sought.

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said the first of the four assaults in the most recent case occurred at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

The first victim, a 17-year-old potential recruit for the Latin King Goonies street gang, was grabbed by gang members and taken to an empty Bronx apartment they used for parties and sex, police said. The teen was stripped, beaten and sodomized with a wooden plunger handle, police said.

To people that speak about topics of sex, and think it has to do with the spiritual.

Sex, any form of sex, has nothing to do with the spiritual, except the way a person feels.

If you have sex to have pleasure for yourself without regard for your partner, in selfish ways, or that hurts people by not thinking about them also, then that feeling part is spiritual.

If you have sex to have sex with intimacy and sharing of love with someone, then the spiritual part of it is spirit of love and kindness and sharing.

And with any person of sentience, with the spirit of intimacy and love, then the sharing is in spirit of love.


In worldly matters, like gender or class, or race, there are discussion on that topic over the years. As an example, things like adultery have laws written about them being illegal because of the lack of trust, and also deception, and because of difficulties it caused in property ownership knowledge. So there were spiritual reasons, and worldly reasons on that topic.



So right now, Someone explain, if they can, what is spiritually wrong about love with intimacy in a gay relationship? If you believe that love is fulfilling of the law as Christianity teaches.

Explain it if you can, because you can't.

Hence why I have no issues with people in a loving relationship with any sentient person that can receive and share love with there partners also, if the relationship is for love and caring reasons.

And the fact that a gay kid is brutalized by a gang is no worse than when it is a straight one. They do those exact same things including brutalizing friends. That is what gangs do.

and what is a gang but a bunch of thugs doing shit for thrills? Calling them a 'gang' does not in any way mitigate this hate crime with multiple victims. And also, by the way, their eldest victim was 30, not a kid, and not in this 'gang'.

This wasn't a "blood in" initiation, this was a gay-bashing incident after they found out one of their members was gay.

The arresting officers beat Louima with their fists, nightsticks, and hand-held police radios on the ride to the station. On arriving at the station house, he was strip-searched and put in a holding cell. The beating continued later, culminating with Louima being sexually assaulted in a bathroom at the 70th Precinct station house in Brooklyn. Volpe kicked Louima in the testicles, then, while Louima's hands were cuffed behind his back, he first grabbed onto and squeezed his testicles and then sodomized him with a broken broom stick, causing severe internal damage to his colon and bladder that required several operations to repair. Volpe then walked through the precinct holding the bloody, excrement-stained instrument in his hand, indicating that he had "broke a man down."

Louima's teeth were also badly damaged in the attack by having the plunger handle jammed into his mouth. He testified to the presence of a second officer in the bathroom helping Volpe in the assault but he could not positively identify him. The identity of the second attacker became a point of serious contention during the trial and appeals. Louima also initially claimed that the officers involved in the attack called him a "nigger" and shouted, "This is Giuliani-time" during the beating. Louima later recanted this claim, and the reversal was used by defense lawyers to cast doubt on the entirety of his testimony.
