Focus damn it !!!!
The ONLY thing that matters at this point is getting progressive voters to the polls on November 2nd.

You can help do that.

Volunteer down at Democratic HQ. They need people to make phone calls, knock on doors, compile lists of local events, do data entry, etc.

Help others get their early ballots in case they can't get out on election day.

Get a yard sign.

Talk to your cousin/nephew/aunt etc.

We need to focus on this or the next two years of DU will be not about how to improve the country, but about limiting damage.

thanks,

Scuba

3. The progressive voters...
need to convince the young voters and the independents and the moderates that voted in the last election to get to the polls this time because it is very important. The progressives are not the problem and the White House knows it.

4. Sorry, simply can't do
Being an unemployed teacher, out in the country, I simply can't afford to donate to the Dems, either time or money. I can't afford the gas it would take, nor the other costs associated with such volunteer work.

Nor am I terribly inclined to help out. Yes, I'm one of those disaffected, discouraged liberals that the administration keeps berating. I wouldn't mind the berating so much if the Dems actually had some truly positive achievements out there, but when they fail to act on legislation that is supported by a majority of the public, such as the public option and repealing DADT, it doesn't make one terribly inclined to help them.

Furthermore, as a teacher, my profession and myself have come under a brutal attack on teachers and public education, one that has been ramped up under Obama. Again, it makes one disinclined to go out and give of my time, effort and money.

I will vote in this election, but that is all. If Obama wanted the help of teachers, of liberals and others who are currently disaffected, perhaps he should have thought about that before he and Democrats began waging this campaign against us.

He and the Dems made their bed, now they get to lay in it.

6. I'm sorry your life is hard
I don't have a job either, but I don't think letting the GOP gain control is going to help me at all.

"He and the Dems made their bed, now they get to lay in it."

No, EVERYBODY is going to have to lay in it. The things the GOP is talking about scares the shit out of me -- no abortion even in cases of rape and incest, eliminating minimum wage, privatizing Social Security, etc. And if you can't muster more, fine, but why try to demoralize others?

9. What is going to happen if the Dems lose will be as always in midterms,
Gridlock. That is unless Obama decides to sign the crap that comes down the pike from a 'Pug Congress. Gridlock, I can live with that, in fact in some ways it might be good.

Sorry, but Dems need to be held accountable for their actions, and putting myself, my profession under such a radical assault as this administration has unleashed, what the fuck did he think teachers would do? Bend over and say "Thank you sir, may I have another?"

In any coalition type party, you have to do two things, not attack those who got you where you are, and second, reward them for their efforts. Obama and the Dems have violated that principle time and again over the past year and a half.

I simply cannot support these kinds of actions, handing out more tax cuts instead of a strong jobs programs, doubling down time and again on illegal, immoral wars, cutting civil liberties, failure to pass such immensely popular legislation like the public option and repealing DADT, failure to enact a stop loss order to end, at least for awhile, the ruination of thousands of soldiers lives serving under DADT, the list goes on and on.

I'm not trying to demoralize others, I'm pointing out reality. Obama and the Dems keep scolding us for our enthusiasm gap, well damn, pretty hard to get enthused when there is nothing to be enthused about.

Yes, life will be a pain under a 'Pug Congress, if it comes down to that. But all those dire consequences you are predicting simply won't come to pass unless Obama fails to wield his veto pen. And if he does fail, well then, he should be held accountable for that as well.

But the fact of the matter is that all politics is personal, and personally, I haven't felt the love from this administration, or even indifference, but rather I, and millions like me, have felt unappreciated and under attack. Perhaps Obama and the Dems need to take this as a learning opportunity, namely don't piss off your base and expect their full fledged support in the next election. One can only hope.

You don't want me making others feeling demoralized, well, I don't want to feel like I'm shit on this administration's shoe. Change the latter and you will see the former change as well. I will not suffer in silence.

7. In a discussion this morning with my hubby, he said something that has stuck with me.....
Hate is a powerful tool; more powerful than doing what is best in one's long term interest.
Some people hate so much, that they will take it where it hurts rather than relinquish
the hate in exchange for what is best for them. Sometimes just being able to believe that one is
better than those in charge, and doing whatever is necessary to make their belief come to fruition can give one more drive than doing what would turn out to be the better, most logical and constructive choice.

10. And that would be nice, but the trouble is we've been down this road before
And it always winds up the same, the left gives its all, and in return we get nothing, nada, zilch, unless you want to count the abuse that continues to be heaped upon us by the so called Democratic leadership. Fool me once, fine. Fool me twice, I'll take another one for the team. Fool me for the vast majority of my political lifetime, sorry, but sooner or later I'll call it quits.

Frankly, my local Senatorial candidate is lucky to be getting my vote, much less money or support. She's another Blue Dog who has already stated her intention to vote against my own best interests, she's in favor of extending all the Bush tax cuts. Kind of hard to get pumped up about that kind of shit.
