6. So what your saying is you wish this to be all in one rich thread
Instead of farming it out to multiple poorer threads?

8. The community where this happened needs to take a long
hard look at themselves and think of ways to make their neighborhood a better place to live.

9. Then I'll say my piece here.
If we want to live in a civilized society, we need shared services. Everybody needs to pay-in their fair share, according to their ability to pay, so everyone can benefit from them when they may need them.

the end.

12. Sounds like a variation of creation myth.
Edited on Wed Oct-06-10 05:50 PM by RandomThoughts
However depends what you think fire is.

However it also explains some of the same things that creation myth explain.

Basically God kicks people out of Eden, and swears wrath on some people later also, they can never enter into his love. But with a person that frees them, they can, since it is the love given to that person that they then share. Leading back to connection to the love of God.

The idea of job, and Christian ideas also. Where a fallen, can not share God's love, God did not see Adam and Eve after sin, but a person can see in the dark, and see through sin, and can find them, so a person as an intermediate that is in God's love can share it with them. That is what Jesus is called in Christian faith, and is in some views of the story of Job.

Story is said in a few places, that would makes sense.

11. I really don't care too much because...
I don't live there, if I did, I would care enough to advocate, vote for a change in how the fee is collected. Namely, I don't think an upfront fee separate from taxes makes sense. If they must charge separate from taxes than bill and collect after the fucking incident like in Bethlehem PA where I had to pay 50 bucks after they extinguished my poor '71 Z car. (a tear for my poor Z car).

13. BootinUp, the Obion County commissioners...
settled on two ways of providing fire service. One was a fee on the light bill and the other was to subscribe ($75/year)with the S Fulton City FD. They decided not to add the fee. They refused to consider a tax base to form their own fire service and so they chose the subscriber method. Up to the individual to subscribe or not subscribe. Head commissioner made a statement after the decision was made to go for the subscriber option: You can subscribe and get fire service and you can not subscribe and will get NO service. The fire Department was in the city of S Fulton whose 2500 residents voted to establish a tax base to support the VFD. This department used to cover the county area as a matter of helping people and did not establish any fees for doing so. Things got more expensive, some 75% of the calls were in this non-supporting area so that the city was paying, through taxes, for the fire service outside the city's boundries.
