Hey, RWs....did you forget this?
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door."

IMO, it applies not only to those who come to our shores, but to those who are already here and who need a helping hand ~~ be they native born or immigrants. There is nothing, IMO, that sets forth what should be the spirit of this country more than that insctiption on the Statue of Liberty. Now you want to take away food stamps, terminate unemployment...??? That is what you want for the "tired, poor and huddled masses????"

3. Well, whether it is from France or not...
...they most certainly hold that sentiment in contempt. Their motto? IMO: "I got mine, screw you and yours."

:puke:

4. Those sentiments only apply to the rich and corporations
the dumb bunny tea bags don't even know where the statute came from. They think the Koch Bros donated it.

5. Um- the statue is in New York; the "give me your..." statement only refers to New York City-

7. Liberty to them refects financial freedom. The freedom to make
your own money and do with it what you will. Freedom
from taxes---can be seen as punishment.

Republicans have never believed in common good. This is
why they hated FDR so much they could not even utter his
name. They referred to him as "that man in the WH."

What is sad, our party does not refer to the common good.

In the past it was the Democratic Party who concerned
itself with the "the tired, the poor the huddled masses".

Today we are concerned with those earning 75K maybe 60K and
up.
