For those who advocate "going slow"
with regards to Civil Rights for GBLT persons. This recording was by the late, VERY GREAT, Nina Simone, who wrote this song in response to those who were also advocating to "go slow" during the 1960's Civil Rights Movement. Tell me this song isn't applicable today in terms of Civil Rights for the GBLT community.

"Mississippi Goddamn"
By Nina Simone

2. My 19 year old daughter is a member of the GBLT club at her college - and she's straight!
In fact, she's bringing her first *real* boyfriend home this weekend. We brought our three girls up to respect everyone and not judge by race, religion, sexual preference, or even political leanings. I've got close friends who are die-hard Republicans and my mom would probably qualify as a teabagger.

This issue is long overdue to be resolved. I saw a great t-shirt last weekend - "Homophobia is Gay". It was worn by a gay woman who was out at the bar with her father and her ex-girlfriend.

3. Kudos to your daughter!
It's important that the younguns who are picking up the banner understand the historic link between the 1960's Civil Rights Movement and the 1970's Women's Rights Movement. It's all connected and they can be part of that noble history.

11. If we want this, we're going to have to go TAKE IT for ourselves.
It's clear who our allies are and who are the stumbling blocks to equality.

Those are the two camps. And unfortunately you can't tell them apart by R or D, red or blue, rural or urban, minority or majority.

It's a simple fucking question: Do you support full equality for LGBT NOW... or not?

And I don't give a fuck who helps me get there. To be an ally has no requirements other than the right answer to the question above.

10. A-fucking-MEN
Why is it more and more I'm feeling like its the DEMOCRATS that want me to sit down and shut up and take it slow and accept the fact that I'm different and therefore lesser? Accept that separate but equal is what I should settle for?

Fuck. Them. All.

NO ONE gets my vote unless they are full LGBT equality. NO ONE.

"It could be worse" is the most ridiculous bullshit line I've ever fucking heard. "Stick with those who discriminate against you, cause others would discriminate against you worse." Nope. You're all just wrong.
