Jeb Bush scolds Governor Crist for exposing Marco Rubio's scare tactics on Social Security.
Charlie Crist's new ad attacks Marco Rubio on Social Security (31 sec)

Well, here's your slickly-packaged little apprentice, Jeb.

In his own words. (1:09)

January, 2010, Tallahassee:

RUBIO: I do think the retirement age issue is gonna have to be confronted..... at some point as part of a measure to reform Social Security. The other is giving people the option of taking some of their Social Security money, at least a potion thereof, and investing it in an alternative to the Social Security system itself.

REPORTER: But, but.. but... you have people who made terrible mistakes and lost everything in their 401K. Wouldn't they do the same thing with Social .....

RUBIO: (interrupts questioner): Potentially, but it's their money.

Adam Smith at Tampa Bay's The Buzz reports:

In a sign that Marco Rubio was waiting, ready, and worried about Charlie Crist's inevitable Social Security attack, now they've released a statement from Jeb Bush.....

“Charlie Crist should be ashamed of his false attack against Marco Rubio on Social Security. Charlie Crist is purposely trying to scare seniors in order to win votes. The fact is, Marco Rubio will protect Social Security. His own mother relies on Social Security and he has repeatedly stated that he would not support or propose any benefit reductions for current retirees or people who are close to retirement.

“Charlie Crist used to believe that scaring seniors to win votes was wrong. I know this first-hand because in 1995 he spoke out forcefully in my defense when the very same kind of false attacks were made against me. It is sad that he has become so enamored with winning political office that he has abandoned the very principles that steered him into public service in the first place. I am disappointed, but can’t say I am surprised.”

Jeb's logic defies common sense.

Crist is calling out Rubio's own words which are aimed squarely at weakening Social Security. And for that, somehow, it's Crist's fault that Rubio's words confuse and frighten seniors.

I swear, these guys always, always, ALWAYS blame others for their own words and actions.

What part of Rubio's words are 'fabricated' by Governor Crist, Jeb?

And the same question goes for Rubio's lavish personal spending using campaign money and his GOP-issued American Express credit card.

The voters are still waiting for Rubio's explanation.

1. The standard fall-back
Oh, but we're not talking about anyone currently on social security or "close" to retirement. Conveniently left out is just what constitutes "close" to retirement: Age 62? 52? 42? And, on top of the "nobody currently receiving benefits" canard is the unspoken inevitability: "We want to pit older workers against younger workers, and watch them battle each other for fewer and fewer scraps. We find it amusing at the Bush family compound."

And Rubio is leading in the polls. What is in the water in Florida? It seems to addle people's minds.
