I think it's time for Jon Stewart to leave Rick Sanchez alone
The guy was wrong, he was fired, now it's time to let it go. The ongoing skits and mocking have gone overboard. What if Sanchez commits suicide due to the ongoing taunting?

1. If Sanchez
commits suicide it would mean he is even more thin skinned and idiotic than anyone figured out to date.

He got off light, Stewart was being nice to him. It was one part of one show, there has been no ongoing skit, at least not yet.

And isn't looking at those beliefs as bigotry. He'll probably end up at Fox.

5. Huh? Unless you have seen the Tuesday night show....
As of this moment, there has been one Daily Show since Sanchez went off. He kinda HAD to respond.

There was a gala fund raising dinner Saturday, but Stewart only made one comment there.

Am I missing a wealth of Daily Show material I don't know about?

He's a classy guy, so I hope this is it. Ricky is a dumb-ass & he's paid repeatedly for his big mouth. I also hope he has learned his lesson, but this time he may have touched that third rail...

Jon should drop it now..

13. There are ongoing skits?
I was disappointed in Stewart when he made a joke recently at the charity function, but after watching the clip from his show last night, I thought he handled the whole thing with a lot of class. At the end he said that he doesn't think Sanchez is a bad guy or that he necessarily meant what he said, particularly in light of what Sanchez has said about haters in the past.

But there are ongoing skits? Did he continue to mock Sanchez after that? Is there video of this?

19. He has previously done bits on Sanchez when he made an opportune target -
such as getting himself tased on his show to find out what it was like being tased. He's not devoted a fraction of the time to Sanchez that he has to others, like O'Reily.

Thing is, Sanchez was always trying to portray himself as a serious newsman, then he goes and does stupid stunts like he was a character from Network. But I don't recall Stewart ragging on him more than two or three times in the last couple years.

But after the firing it seems that Stewart has backed off and even had something nice to say. So I'm not sure what the OP is all about.

Sobbing and clutching his millions in compensation, with only a six- or seven-figure sinecure at Fox to look forward to. Could anyone blame him if he decided life just wasn't worth living because some of the proles laughed at him? You have no idea how much courage it takes for Rick Sanchez to get out of bed in the morning! You smug people, with your two or three jobs and your underwater mortgages just take so much delight in seeing your betters mocked a time or two.

Leave Rick Sanchez alooooone!

32. I think Sanchez is a moron, but at the same time,
the rapidity with which he was fired kind of backs up his point.

I mean, how long did it take Imus to get fired for making racist comments about black people? A very long time, and he had to attack young girls, too. I actually think Sanchez was correct in scoffing at the suggestion that Jews in the United States are an oppressed minority in the way that blacks or latinos are.

41. I'd agree with that
I think there are certain parts of the country where it's still true, and I think there are people who harbor deep-seated hatred of Jews, but I think in much of the country Jewish people have been able to rise above the bigotry and successfully fight against the oppression. I hope and pray it's only a matter of time before blacks and latinos follow. It would be nice if everyone could just accept the fact that we're all human beings.

You know-- the one you would've seen me refer to if you'd read beyond the first sentence instead of anxiously flying into righteous outrage mode, i.e. his scoffing at the suggestion that Jews in the United States are an oppressed minority in the way that blacks or latinos are.

You think Jewish Americans are an exploited minority, on par with blacks or latinos? They're shut out from the system, with disproportionately little influence? Seriously?

And by the way, 'skit' is what your kid does at school. Sketch is the proper terms for these things you are pretending to have seen. Steward does not do sketches, even if you call them skits. Ever. Not a sketch comic.
So all I see in this post is a way to mock a serious issue about bullying and suicide using another issue about prejudice and bigotry.
Stay Classy!

sanchez called steward a BIGOT on national TV, and also anti-semitic conspiracy theory. he got fired (by that same cabal, no doubt!), and now you feel empathy. because liberals can't stop themselves.

a conservative would just laugh and twist the knife.

me if he was overdoing the Sanchez story to the point of bullying. I've noticed a lot of comics behave that way. David Letterman does the same thing. Our culture does have an undercurrent of bullying about it, which is probably why we see it so much in our children.

Editing to add that Sanchez didn't say it on national TV; he said it on a radio show--not that it makes much of a difference. It was an incredibly dumb thing to say.

61. I doubt
you'll see Stewart bring it up again unless circumstances force him to.

65. Oh for fuck's sake.
It's Jon Stewart's job to make fun of loud-mouth cockbags like Rick Sanchez.

And he's good at it.

Let 'er rip, Mr Stewart.

79. In what way did he go overboard or are you just repeating things.
First of a all, he's a comedian and uses mocking/satire as his main method of communication. It is highly effective and reflects that in the ratings.

Secondly, he did not "go overboard." The autism night was on Friday and everyone expected him to say something, and he made one small comment. The media blew that WAY out of proportion to what he actually said.

And lastly, he has only taped two shows since "the incident" and the one I saw yesterday was hilarious and exactly what one can expect of Jon. If you don't like then turn the channel and go eat a twinkie instead.

81. Ricky doesn't deserve all your forgivness. He was an awlful anchor
and will end up on Fauxnews soon enough. I think they should tease the man until he finds another line of work.
