Poll question: How are you participating in this election?
Edited on Tue Oct-05-10 12:44 PM by BurtWorm
Are you actively working to get Democrats/progessives elected? (I'd love to hear your about experiences with voters below, if you want to share them.)

1. Intend to vote, and that's it. However, we are donating indirectly to campaigns, which is fine.
I never give straight to the party. Campaigns/candidates only.

4. I worked a phone bank last night and plan to do some more
hopefully once a week at least. I'm in NYC, where progressive Dems are pretty safe. But we were calling Scott Murphy's district (NY-20), where he's in a tight race with retired Army colonel Chris Gibson, who is trying to convince voters that Murphy is soft on defense. :eyes:

I heard from two Republican women who said they were "strong" supporters of both Murphy and Gillibrand (whose Congressional seat Murphy filled in a special election when she was picked to replace Hillary Clinton). Two Republicans were undecided. I couldn't budge them. One, a 60-something male, probably won't vote. The other, a 50-something woman probably will, but it wasn't clear to me which way she's leaning. She doesn't like negative ads, she said several times.

6. The "I'm sitting this election out" vote = MASSIVE FAIL. I'm voting, but that's all I can do now.

15. The Democrats have solidified their support for
Blumenthal. 1 out of 5 Republicans are on board with him. The Indies favor him slightly.
He is still holding in the low 50's. McMahon has stalled at 40%.
McMahon's comments about lowering the minimum wage and the massive layoff's at the WWE have struck a chord with the working class in the middle of the state.

14. Other: Working to get out the disability vote
neither party really has us on their radar screen (though one certainly has us in its crosshairs!), so we're pretty much on our own.

17. Donating money to the Sestak and Onorato campaigns here and PA, and to
Edited on Tue Oct-05-10 02:52 PM by old mark
Harry Reid one or two others out of state - I want to donate to teh young Democrat running against Boehner, but forgot his name - he is getting zero from the DNC or other Democratic Party groups because they believe he has no chance. I would like to donate a few dollars just to spit in Boehner's eye.
And we are going to vote first thing in the morning.

We volunteered to work at the polls, but our health prevents us from doing more now.
