The first videos of The Wall tour (2010) are turning up on youtube. (Unauthorized so no link).

As promised it's political, and some clueless youtubers are rather angry,
if the comments are anything to go by..

In Goodbye Blue Sky (2010)
Waters projects onto the wall (screen)
bombers dropping red hot -

Christian Crosses
Islamic Crescents
Stars of David
Stars of Mercedes
Shells (as in Shell)
and of course dollar$

Oh the outrage..

OIl companies, give me a break. What a bunch of horseshit.
Wake up Waters. How embarrassing for you.

Clearly, Mr Waters is a long time right winger, who has taken an unexpected turn.
:sarcasm:

And yes the FR did spell it OIl

1. I'm confused
Is Waters really a Winger? I always thought he was Centre-Left (not Center-Left)

8. True that...
And you have a point, because this was part of the focus of 'Amused to Death'

Although, Anarchist-Syndicalist theory comes to mind as well as Socialist Thought (the true root of 'left' as opposed to 'centre-left.' which is all Keynes)

9. Anarchist-Syndicalist?

I think he's ambivalent. In the Wall movie, Pink the child imagines the students rising up, trashing and burning down an authoritarian school, but Roger is particularly concerned about cycles of violence. War and 'direct action' can beget the next generation of damaged people, who may seek simple solutions. Like war.

12. I think you are digging into that scene a little much..
to me it was just a childs fantasy about defeating the people who hold power over him, and doing it the way a child thinks of doing it. The grown up version actually got his "revenge" by making the teacher look like an ass while reading the "Money" "poem".

10. Roger Waters is not "center left" He's as far left as you can get
Edited on Mon Sep-27-10 05:43 PM by walldude
And he's not afraid to show it. The reviews of the show are great, one reviewer went as far as to say this work should be remembered for generations.

The true brilliance of this new tour is that The Wall started out as a somewhat pretentious autobiography(don't get me wrong, I think it's one of the greatest albums of all time) dealing with Roger and his demons. Then a funny thing happened, the Wall in Berlin fell, and Rog saw a way to turn his work from being about the Walls that were separating him from his friends, family and fans, into the Walls that separate East from West.

Now he has taken it a step further and adjusted the meaning again to be about the Walls that divide us all. Right/Left East/West Liberal/Conservative.

I have seen some stills but I won't look at the vids because I have tickets for the show in November. I have been waiting almost 30 years to see this, and I know that not only will Rog not disappoint, but I will come out of the show .

Not to mention he has the best sound system on the road. :)

Oh and He's on the cover of this weeks Rolling Stone. I'm not big on having "heroes" but if I were, Rog would be high on my list. It's nice to see him getting the attention he deserves... Finally.

Oh hell while I'm ranting about Rog, this is projected onto some sidewalks and buildings in every city before the show:
