61 year old Olympian Diana Nyad to attempt 103 mile open water swim from Florida to Cuba


She last attempted this when she was 28. She had to quit due to impossibly rough seas. She retired from long distance competitive swimming shortly thereafter.

She also plans to eschew the use of a shark cage. If successful, she will be the first person to have done that.

I hope she does it and kicks ass in the process.

2. That swim would not be in the Gulf
It is the Florida Straights.

I'm not sure what the condition of the Gulf is. Since most of it was unaffected, I suspect most of it is okay.
