Continuous chest compression CPR

I didn't run this through snopes, mind you but I do believe this is something we all should know how to do. I just learned how and am thankful for that.

1. More focused training
I don't think there is anything "wrong" per se with anyone getting trained. I did see a suggestion long ago that we need more targeted training. There is statistically a population of people that will have an opportunity to use these techniques successfully, and we rarely focus upon them. It includes certain categories, amongst which a big one is family members. I think another one strangely is wait staff at restaurants.

4. I have to admit that I was in the dark about the importance of this one facet of cpr
I'd have cleared their airways and started mouth to mouth not knowing that the chest compressions is the most important thing.

6. Back in the day, when I took CPR courses, THAT was how they taught it.
This new approach needs more publicity. As they said, it is more likely to save lives since there is no mouth to mouht contact, and ergo..more people might do it...AND it is pretty simple to do if you have heard about it.

9. trying to do 100 x i min. compressions will wear THIS old fart out
pretty quickly.
It has been said that the safest place to have a heart attack is in Seattle
( my old hometown) because so many people there knew CPR.
before I retired, I was required to be re-certified every 2 years, but in all honesty,
that was not often enough, unless you practice often, it is easy to forget how the hands are to be held, the rate of breathing to compression, etc.
And for all of that, I never once had to use it.
