"60 minutes" Afghanistan report tonite....
Watched carefully. The US is losing. The enormously brave and skilled American troops are being fed into a meat grinder for some political purpose that I cannot fathom.

The segment about the forward base had a Captain of the 101st and his people. 40% wounded? Everybody has been IEDed? Those guys are just live bait!

Having had some experience in that role, I'm asking anybody to explain WHY?

The Taliban/foreign fighters chose when to engage, where to engage, how to engage, and when to disengage. They are in charge.

Fucking waste of good people.

2. Six years of mismanagement
by Bush gave the Taliban able time to study American Military doctrine.

3. I saw that...
very interesting the way they closaed the segment I thought. Asking the commander what will happen after they leave and he replied they'll lose it or some similar reply. Like it was a call to get behind the war effort there?
But it just confirmed to me that it was and is a failed policy. Bring our guys home!

9. War apologists? Here?
I don't think there is one person here who thinks it's a good idea to be in Afghanistan.

There IS no win possible. There's nothing TO win.

5. The wars in Iraq and Now mostly Afghanistan have always been
the single most important issue for me since they began. You can't truly fix what's wrong at home until you end the wars. Spiritually and financially. K&R

7. Sounded like the CPT said he HAD to believe we're winning...
...in order to be able to go on and to do his job.

They also made a point (more than once) about enemy fighters having the freedom to go unimpeded to and from sanctuaries in Pakistan. I can't help but be reminded of the sanctuaries in Cambodia during the VN War.

I agree, brother--what a fucking waste of good people! That Captain and his troops from the 101st were impressive...I hope they all make it home safely, as unrealistic as that is.

11. Didn't watch. If it showed the US losing, the rw probably writes it off as "the liberal MSM".
Of course, if it showed us winning, we would write it off as "the corporate MSM".

Five years (maybe five months) after we leave (sooner better than later, but eventually at any rate) Afghanistan will revert to its natural state and there is nothing we can do about it.
