Tea Party flexes muscles in Marin County today

Hundreds of Tea Party supporters will gather in Marin County today, where they will listen to speeches from affirmative action opponent Ward Connerly and John Yoo, the UC Berkeley law professor and an architect of the Bush administration's "enhanced interrogation" policy.
But the point of the gathering isn't merely to chomp on conservative rhetoric or rail against the new health care law - though there will be plenty of that.
With five weeks before the Nov. 2 election, organizers said that if the Tea Party wants to be a force in the California vote, its followers must commit to the serious grunt work of campaigning - and pony up some cash. It's no longer about sign-waving.
