F.B.I. Searches Antiwar Activists’ Homes
F.B.I. agents executed search warrants Friday in Minneapolis and Chicago in connection to an investigation of support of terror organizations.

The searches in Minneapolis took place early in the morning at the homes of people who have helped organize demonstrations against the war in Iraq and protests held two years ago during the Republican National Convention in St. Paul.

“It is rather patently political,” said Ted Dooley, a lawyer who represents Mick Kelly, a food service worker at the University of Minnesota and one of those whose homes was searched. “My client denies any wrongdoing.”

Steve Warfield, a spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Minneapolis, said the agents executed six warrants in Minneapolis and two in Chicago.

Seems the more things change, the more they stay the same.

1. Don't know if these anti-war activists are terrorists, but clearly they've been targeted as the
enemy: is this reminiscent of junior's proclamation that you are either with us or you are agin' us, to wit, the enemy, in my take, is anyone with the temerity to even question anything we do? ;)

3. The enemy is the one that is trying to get you killed.
So I find myself asking again and again, who are our real enemies?

2. Something else is going on.
This is the second (at least) time this year that they've broken down doors looking for something around that area (using "that area" pretty broadly). Last time it was a conservative militia, now it's a liberal anti-war group.

I'm wondering if they are looking for something specific, like missing weapons or explosives, or if they have some vague tip that something is about to happen.

In the months before 9-11 there were a lot of scares. At one point the military pulled all of its ships out of Middle Eastern ports, and there were a lot of warnings and searches at embassies and other usual targets. They had some chatter that something was about to happen, and were jumping at every sound. It almost looks like something like that is happening up there.

Or maybe not. Maybe they are just raiding a liberal group to try to show the militias that they aren't just targeting them. There's no telling with the government cops.

Just thinking out loud. Sorry to bother y'all.

6. Searching for "material support for terrorism". When are they going to raid the Pentagon and CIA?

Plenty of evidence of "material support for terrorists" there.
