Why everything gets worse
I say that this progression toward everything we as progressives fight against is partly due to the habit of not learning the lesson of using the same methods to achieve different results. Progressives and Conservatives both battle almost all major causes in the arena built to defy progressive ideas. That arena is Washington; the known corrupted body that we repeatedly attempt to influence. I liken it to asking the crack dealer if he'd be interested in helping you kick the habit.

I say that there really is no such entity known as the republican party. They've all been replaced with corporatist who know how the spout the conservative populism but really couldn't care less about the gays, abortion, etc., but are there as superlobbyist. Almost 100% of republicans will vote against the people in favor of the corporate bodies that elevated them to there current positions.

So, where can progressive ideals be realized? I don't know. One answer may be, not in the United States. The system has been devolving into a very efficient non-progressive machine. Indeed, the moneyed interests have basically bought Washington, because they knew that by making the political system expensive, only they could afford it.

We are moving ever faster away from humanism, and toward corporatism. And I would sadly say, it will go the way of all corrupted systems, and there will be much suffering.
