8. How important is shelter from the elements, food, clothing,
ability to converse with people who are not within earshot or the ability to move to areas not within walking distance. Money is important.

10. i guess it depends how much of it you have or don't have.
it sure seems important when you have to feed your kids and pay the bills so you have a roof over your head.

11. According to some here - it is THE most important thing
So much so, that controlling the lives of others because of money is totally justified (what you eat, smoke, drink, abortions, etc and so on are all tied to Co$t). And if you disagree you are a 'libertarian'.

Health care = $$, and those who do not comply should not get care (because, like those who had sex and have have an unwanted pregnancy, are totally at fault and should pull themselves up by their bootstraps).

12. What's with the non-ugly greenback?
Dude. US money is supposed to be ugly. It's one of the things that makes us exceptional!

What's the story here, anyway? Some poncy Frenchified Euro-fop design proposal?

Who do we have to run over with a pickup to keep this from happening? Excuse me -- "whom."

:patriot:

17. I want to know too - what a beautiful (and actually modern) design
for our currency. Ours looks like something out of the 1800's compared with the rest of the world, particularly the Euro.

14. Money is worthless
It's "worth" comes from tying in to the goods & services we use everyday.

Say you somehow landed on a deserted island. Your first instinct after yelling for help is to look for food & drinkable water (the sea is too salty). The last person who landed there is now a skeleton. He was wealthy. His yacht crashed due to an explosion & all others on board perished. He luckily avoided the accident & somehow got washed ashore on this island. He thought the authorities would rescue him but nobody ever came...it was too hard to find him.

In his billfold were credit cards & lots of cash. He wore fancy clothes & had jewelry made of gold & diamonds.
You stumble upon his skeleton as you search the island for food & drinkable. On these bones were his now-tattered clothing with the still intact gold/diamond jewelry he wore. You look nearby & you see his billfold. Inside were those plastic credit cards & the paper cash.

YOU'VE STUMBLED UPON A GOLDMINE!!!
With the exception of the credit cards you have a small fortune with the dead rich man's belongings!

Except...what good will it do you when you're really out looking for food & drinkable water?

Eating a gold ring with an embedded diamond will not satisfy your hunger. Digesting those paper bills will not quench your thirst.
It's worthless. You need to find a coconut or some small fresh water supply to survive this island. Maybe you can plant seeds & make more coconut trees. Maybe you can hunt any local animals for sustenance. You've got lots of fresh air so that's a start.
Fresh food, fresh water, & fresh air are the most valuable things on Earth to a human being. You can't live without those.

Money is a stand-in for the true resources we use to survive. It's use is in the TRADING of it to GET THE GOODS we need or want.
Because all corn stalks are not the same size & all chickens don't possess the same amount of meat, people came up with this system to make trading of goods & services easier.
It was supposed to be a convenience tool but soon became a tool to divide & enslave people. A velvet rope.

If you have the skill to find food & water, you don't need money. If you have the knowledge to produce & gather clean sustenance free of disease, you don't need money. Unfortunately, this way of life has been destroyed in the U.S.A. All who knew how to live off the land, were forced one way or another to operate under the money standard. Now you have this middleman that forces to value it when before it was a straight shot between you & the goods you sought.

Money is now option power. The option to get any good or service you wish to acquire. But those in control of the money game don't want everybody to have this power. It's rigged to give the monied few limitless option power in comparison to the less monied many. And through the use of envy, the disempowered fight amongst themselves to get a fraction of this power. Money's used to make the lives of those who have it more comfortable on the backs of those who don't.

It's the ultimate illusion because so many fight, fret, & fuss over it yet by itself it's worthless. One day all people in the world will come to the conclusion that money is worthless. Then you will see the next stage in humanity's development.
John Lucas
