Bill Clinton Calls Republicans' Pledges 'Hysterical Tirades'
Edited on Thu Sep-23-10 12:25 PM by bigtree
Sept. 23 (Bloomberg) --

___ They don’t know that the model for success in the 21st century is a vigorous private sector, an effective government, a partnership, not these hysterical tirades against government,” Bill Clinton said in an interview for Bloomberg Television’s “Political Capital with Al Hunt” at the Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York.

“Their objective for 30 years has been to dismantle the federal government,” he said. “They have a model for the future that none of our competitors have embraced.”

Clinton said Republicans also want to “repeal the financial oversight bill” President Barack Obama signed into law July 21 in response to the financial crisis that began in 2008. Rolling back the new protections would “let banks go back to gambling,” he said. “And that’s a mistake.”

“They want everybody else to pay more for less government,” Clinton said. “And none of it has anything to do with our competitive position. It’s an ideological document.”

1. Bill Clinton, I presume...
There are two Clintons who currently may be speaking. It might be a good idea to identify which one in your OP.

5. My working-class family grew and thrived during his terms
. . . and we weren't exceptions.

I recall every political moment and instance of the Clinton era. Economically, at whatever's behest, our nation's economy rocked throughout his term in office. Look at the stats . . . poverty rate; minority employment and earnings; income gap between rich and poor; educational opportunity and advancement; reducing the deficit; tax fairness; all achieved record levels of improvement during his terms.

4. Not just dismantle the federal gov't, but build up the military machine...
and use it for their own nefarious activities.

6. Are you sitting?
Joe Scum said this a.m. that President's should be allowed to run for another term after serving 2 terms. Since Clinton has been out of office for over 10 years he should be allowed to serve again. He seemed to genuinely like Bill but, I know he's freakin lizard.

8. Bill says that any law extending the number of terms shouldn't include former presidents like him
. . . only those from this point forward.
