Just saw this on Chris Matthews. If your child doesn't already have health insurance, and live in California, Illinois, and a couple of other states (4 for now, expect that to grow), major carries will deny your child health insurance.

Show of hands: who didn't see this coming?

No hands.

I want my socialized medicine NOW! :grr:

1. Gawd.
Everybody has a pre-existing condition. It's called birth.

2. Doesn't the LAW that goes into effect tomorrow address that very issue?
I thought after tomorrow they could not refuse any child with pre existing conditions.

3. No. That's what we were lead to believe...

...but Wendell Potter was saying that the "Obamacare" (my words) disaster is rife with loopholes. He said the obvious: we needed a more "robust" health care plan than what we settled for. He continued that the public option was mandatory to close these loopholes.

I'll update as I get more information. Sorry that's all I can remember. I couldn't hear over my outrage.

4. The loophole is that the insurance companies are not longer
going to sell ANY child only policies. If they do not offer this type of policy, they are not required to cover pre-existing children. I guess that the amount of money they make on child only policies is low enough that they can walk away from the whole business in that policy.

5. We need single payer, period
enough of this shit.

I know why it will not happen in this country, but that is what we need.

Yes I am a proud red commie, (at least to them) for wanting the most basic of social services...

And no, I did not see this one. I did not know there were such policies. That is what happens when one ASSumes.
