Super harvest moon tonight
NBC Nightly News reported on this brighter than usual harvest moon a while ago. More info can be found here - http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2010/22sep_harvestmoon/

1. Doesn't really say why it'll be "brighter than usual"
It just says it's coincidentally close to the equinox.

The bit about "astronomers" not understanding why the moon appears larger at the horizon is really lame. It's just an optical illusion. Astronomers have known that for as long as there have been astronomers.

And it's called the harvest moon because it occurs during harvest season, not because of all the harvesters out working in the moonlight. The full moon in November is called the beaver moon, but it really doesn't have anything to do with beavers.
