He also is the author of "Power and Knowledge: A Dialectical Contradiction", "Humanism and Terror: Merleau-Ponty's Marxism" and numerous other scholarly articles, as well as being co-editor of the book: After Postmodernism. Currently he is Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Sociology, Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. He has been a life-long admirer of Marx . . . He makes no bones about the fact he
sees all of these problems as having one root cause: capitalism. The
idea that all the world’s problems can be fixed through a democratic,
capitalist system is a “utopian dream,” he said.
“Things are moving in a direction
where they’re getting much, much worse,” he said. “The economic system
that we have is both making this sort of thing happen, and frustrating
the possibility of fixing it.”
