Fishing Expands in the Gulf - 8,000 square miles reopened
Citing tests, the federal government is reopening 8,000 more square miles of the Gulf of Mexico to commercial and recreational fishing, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said on Tuesday. That leaves just 13 percent of the gulf’s waters closed as a result of contamination from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in April.
