Busted again! Fox News edits clip so it seems like Obama can't lower taxes

Fox News show edits clip to make it seem like Obama can’t lower taxes

By David Edwards
Tuesday, September 21st, 2010 -- 11:04 am

Weeks after Sean Hannity was caught selectively editing a clip of President Barack Obama to paint him in a negative light, the Fox News channel has done it again.

The latest clip, aired by Fox & Friends Tuesday, has the president appearing to say that he could not give tax cuts to the richest Americans.

"It is an irresponsible thing for us to do. I can't give tax cuts to the top two percent of Americans..." Obama said before being cut off in mid-sentence by the morning show's editing.

But in the full context, it's clear that the president said that he couldn't give tax cuts and lower the deficit at the same time.

2. Why oh why are they not lambasted for this behavior?
I mean it, this crap is just down right criminal on a show that claims to be a news program. Campaign commercials, talk shows, comedy shows...I have no problem how they doctor the video. If you claim to be a "News Program" you should create the news, just report it.

GGGGGGrrrrrrrr

3. Because the viewship is complicit. People watch Fox IN ORDER to be fooled.

5. Yup; and even if they admit it, they pull out the ol' "librul media"
crapola that has been patently untrue for almost 20 years now.

6. Because that's what their audience wants.
People who watch Fox News (or listen to RW radio) don't want to hear anything positive or even neutral about Obama in particular and Democrats in general. The audience want their hatred reinforced, so Fox News does exactly that.

If you point out to them an example like this, of Fox News (or RW radio) misleading them or even outright lying to them, they don't even care. They just say that the "liberal" mainstream news shows do the same thing to Republicans.

8. I have to agree with you and the previous two posters....
I was more or less just moaning the blues. I just don't understand how, Republican, Democrat, Independent, or whatever the affiliation, can not grasp that we're being played like marionettes while the rich get richer, the rest of us get poorer, and the politicians do jack shit.

4. I'm surprised they didn't also edit out "the top two percent of "
so he'd just be quoted saying: "I can't give tax cuts to ... Americans..."

7. Faux News is trying to turn President Obama into a modernized Max Headroom.
I, I, I, my administration... HIGHER TAXES. A-A-A-ACORN. Me, My, Me, this adminis-s-S-SOCIALISM!!

Come on, Fox, this is getting old. Anyone can edit a speech into a few highly selective soundbites, completely alter (or eliminate) any actual context, and prove any point they want. Try, just once, to actually report the news. Of course, if they did that, they would have to change their narrative... and that would destroy all of the "work" they have done over the past few years regarding Obama.
