GOP candidate: Hitler invented separation of church and state
GOP candidate: Hitler invented separation of church and state

Christine O'Donnell isn't the only Delaware Tea Party candidate making waves.

The seat in the House of Representatives currently held by Republican Mike Castle -- who was defeated by O'Donnell in Tuesday's Senatorial primary -- is also up for grabs. The Republican primary for that office was won by Tea Partier Glen Urquhart, and it turns out that his political positions may be even more unique than O'Donnell's.

"Do you know, where does this phrase 'separation of church and state' come from?" Urquhart asked at a campaign event last April. "It was not in Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptists. ... The exact phrase 'separation of Church and State' came out of Adolph Hitler’s mouth, that's where it comes from. So the next time your liberal friends talk about the separation of Church and State ask them why they’re Nazis."

"My jaw dropped when I heard it," rival candidate Kevin Wade told Delaware Online. "And he was emphatic about it -- it was not like a slip of the tongue. He got applause from half the crowd, and that disturbed me. I'd say half the room was stunned and the other half applauded."

2. Mat 22:21:"Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God's"

It was Jesus who created the idea of separation of church and state.

Yeshua ben Yosef was responding specifically to a follower's question regarding the morality of paying taxes to a secular state - so it this case Teabaggers are doubly wrong.

4. Urquhart sounds like he could use a quick glance at
some high school history notes to refresh himself on a few basic facts.

I think when a government freighttrains six million people to their deaths on the basis of their religious/ethnic heritage it is more than fair to say that the church/State line has been breached.

5. Kevin Wade seems to be a conservative Republican himself...
He's pretty entrenched in the state Republicn Party

Here's the full quote, by the way.

12. It came out of Jefferson's mouth, or pen, in his letter to the Danbury Baptists.

"Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State."

And the next time a GOPbagger attributes that quote to Hitler, ask them what they know about the Reichskonkordat of 1933. That was the deal that basically co-opted the Catholic Church, in effect putting it under the control of the government so they wouldn't oppose what the Nazis were doing.

7. I can smell the shit coming out of this man's mouth
all the way through my computer one day after his remarks.

It seems that it is harder and harder to tell when a republican
is going to the bathroom or just spewing their hate and lies.
The shit just comes out of both ends of their body.

8. This is what we get for our tradition of anti-intellectualism
People who will believe any damn thing that some media figure tells them.

The Tea Baggers wouldn't last ten seconds in a country where everyone knew history.

(And by the way, at the time Hitler came to power in Germany, Germany had nearly 100% literacy, BUT the vast majority of the population quit school and went to work at 14. When fascism came to Japan, it also had nearly 100% literacy, but the average person quit school at 12.)

13. It's like they're all playing some weird form of Tea-Bagger musical chairs...
They all prance around spouting the most ridiculous nonsense imaginable, and when the music stops that all grab a chair. It just so happens Ms. O'Donnell is the one left standing this week.

Who will it be next week? :scared:

14. This young woman is supposed to be a Catholic. I am not proud
of the fact but Cardinals in my own church have
been accused of "collaboration".

Hitler understood that using Religion was to his
advantage.

When are the Republicans going to learn history.

If they want to accuse an "ism", Communism is the
ideology that disdained Religion.

Catholics, pull out you memory caps---How many of
us were taught and fervently prayed for the Conversion
of Russia. How many of us were taught to fear Communism
because---the first step would be suppress our religion.

O'Donnell needs a quick course in the History of this
country much less Religion. Tell her if she is not
certain of her facts, talk about something else.

This sort of thing is an absolute turn off to anyone
who took their high school education seriously.

17. Hitler was all about religion for the masses:
From a blog entitled An Enlightened Observer http://enlightened-observer.blogspot.com/2007/06/hitlers-religion.html:
The following quotes are translations from Hitler's speeches - I make no apologies for pilfering them from the following excellent source: http://www.atheism.about.com/religion/atheism/library/quotes/bl_q_AHitler.htm where you will
find 60 quotes.
"I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so"

"I believe today that I am acting in the sense of the Almighty Creator. By warding off the Jews I am fighting for the Lord's work".

"I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator."

"Secular schools can never be tolerated because such schools have no religious instruction, and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith . . . we need believing people."

22. How do people who obviously never paid any attention in high school
end up becoming legitimate political candidates? This guy has no understanding of history and the world around him. So Hitler invented the concept of "seperation of church and state"? Really? Does this guy realize the world is older than 100 years old? Does he think intelligent thought just all of the sudden started happening 100 years ago? Is he really not aware of all the philosophical and political debate that has existed throughout the world for hundreds of years?
