Can't Muslims simply turn their hate & mistrust onto the Pub Party & it's
Edited on Fri Sep-10-10 07:04 PM by napi21
supporters the same as we dems do with reguard to the burning of the Quran & building the Center in NY? I've been listening to Tweety just now & some things that were said in his last 2 segments mademe realize that all this anti Muslin stuff is really no different than the Pubs constatly slamming Obama, and everything the Dems want to do to help the ordinary people and the poor.

It would have easily turned into violence when the PUBS & the Tea Party had signs depicting Obama in a turbin, wearing a bone in his nose, looking similar to Hitler, and of course the latest that he's not a christian, he's a Muslim, but it didn't because we recognize them for what they are...purely hateful people!

Is there anything we can do to explain that to the Islamic world?

9. I do too but not all Muslims are that way.
Also, I have some Muslim friends. They do not think that way either. So yes, Muslims can be friends of Democrats.

10. Apparently it's a super sore point
as I just got censored for standing up for women and against slavery.

Guess I ought to just list this among the things that years down the line I will say "I told you so, but you didn't want to hear it".

12. Again, not all Muslims are that way.
Some are even Democrats. Are many that way? Sure, especially certain cultures. I think the sore point may have been related to that, not the way women are treated in Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan for instance.

13. You were not standing up for women, you were promoting hate.

Let's get some things clear, I do not like religion and one day I would love to see people wake up and understand it offers some comfort in rare times, but in the main it used to propagate hate.

We have imposed fascist regimes in the Middle East and we blame the religion.
We steal he resources of those countries and blame their religion for kicking back.
We impose a State in the Middle East and arm it to the teeth (with often experimental military equipment that they then sell to China) and blame the religion for the kick back.

What would happen to the US if you gave unfettered power to Christian Evangelists, without fear of election?

I know what happened when views like yours against a whole religion went unchallenged, because it happened in Europe, not once

but twice

18. Maybe you ought to understand the difference between an
internet meme and reality. You decided that a whole religion is beyond the pale and worthy of attack. You decided that Muslims are so much less of a people that your disgraceful post got deleted.

You said that you can not understand why people defend Islam.

I would strongly suggest that the consequences of not defending a religion against the hate spread by things like you are exactly the pictures I posted.

I'm honest I do not like any religion. Strict orthodox Judaism and Christianity discriminates against women. People are generally free to choose whether to support that or not because in the main we have not imposed fascist theocratic regimes on their people.

In the case of Islam you blame the whole religion for the extremists brought up in fascist regimes we imposed on the Middle East.

22. So which particular Muslims?
Edited on Fri Sep-10-10 10:59 PM by TheBigotBasher
Sunni Shi'a Sufi or do you not care about the difference?

Who wants to kill gays now? Oh good old happy clappy Christians in Uganda. Praise be. I'd be killed by good ol bigots with a cross and not a crescent, it makes them all the much better. Of course all the Christians are to blame for the ones in Uganda.

May I just point out you are giving the kudos to theocrats by saying all Muslims are the same. No they are fucking not and may I also add, the second picture was a concentration camp built (again) by Christians to exterminate Muslims. I'm guessing to you that is fine and dandy.

8. Not ALL muslims believe in those tactics! It's wrong for you to say so.
If you meant Muslim fundamentilists, you really should say that.

I disagree with fundamentalists of ALL stripes, but I will not esecrate their religion nor would I ever consider doing anything to put them or others (like our soldiers) in harms way.

15. That's interesting, what "they" do
because one of my Islamic acquaintances (who is in a marriage where she is most certainly her own person) is really supportive of her transgendered teen. Both of them (her husband, too) are, and have paid for some of the transition surgery out of pocket.

And I find it interesting that my Islamic former neighbors were by and large quite liberal people who would fit right in at DU (if they aren't already here). Oh, and they did know I was lesbian when they invited me to gatherings.

And would you know that the only wing of my family with the courage to stand up to racism (aside from myself) has been my sister in law's side. She's a Palestinian convert to Catholicism, but the rest of her family remain Muslim. Strangely enough, I can't remember her getting killed, or beaten, or anything stronger from her family than the same sort of "we're really disappointed in you" conversation I got from my family when I left Catholicism. I do remember though that my sis in law is still really close to her family.

I guess though none of the ones I know are "real" Muslims. Maybe someday, I'll meet some of the ones you must know (surely you must know a lot of Muslims, right?) and then I'll know what "they" are like. Because so far all the ones I've gotten to know are like the rest of us.

(Obligatory :sarcasm: attached for those who can't figure out the message).

Or at minimum take out out on who they are pissed at, though that is absurd as well.

And by "they", I mean the folks reacting with mayhem and murder.

20. Not when Democratic leaders are indistinguishable...
...or mount weak, qualified defenses of the First Amendment and Islam.

American politicians and media are sending a fairly clear message that Muslims are third-class citizens, at best. :grr:

21. Why should they do that?
After all, our assault on countries with largely Muslim populations has been a bipartisan effort. Or have you forgotten that it was under the Clinton administration that we killed 500,000 innocent Iraqis due to the effects of sanctions and thrice a week bombings?
