Every DU'er needs to get off their ass and work like hell to support Obama ....
at this time of extreme crisis.

We could lose everything if these mid-term elections go wrong.

Get out and work for a Democratic candidate - if not in your district, pick the one of your hometown or that of a close relative.

I live in Mississippi, but I'm working to get the word out about Charlie Melancon's bid to defeat the cretin David Vitter - he who personifies the evil, selfishness and greed that the Republican Party has come to represent!

The Rethugs, led by John Boehner, want to extend Bush's criminal tax cuts for the rich - a key element in the destruction of the middle class we now face.

Call Boehner's office 202 225 6205, and let his staff know what a turd their boss is for trying to derail Obama's recovery efforts at the expense of the middle class!

Call the White House, 202 456 1111, and let Obama know he has your support. Call your Congressperson as well, let them know you support Obama!

We've got to win this battle!!!

10. The House and Senate are more important at this time
Obama can't do it alone. We need more progressive Democrats in office, in addition to beating back the teagaggers.

Touch base with Democracy for America and find someone to support.

11. As a teacher, as an anti-war activist, give me a good reason why I should work for any Democrat.
After all, given Obama's attacks on public education and teachers, I gotta tell you, I'm not feeling the love from this administration. In fact it is his policies regarding education that have helped put me in the position I'm in, namely unemployed. This is a president who has opened the floodgates for even more standardized testing, and worse, more privatized and charter schools. This is a president who praises the mass firings of teachers across the country. Sorry, but I'm not feeling the love.

Furthermore, as an anti-war activist, I'm not feeling the love either. I'm continuing to watch in horror as two illegal, immoral wars are conducted in our name. This little ploy about withdrawing "combat troops" is just that, a ploy. The soldiers who are left in Iraq are still going on missions, still fighting, still dying. Meanwhile, Obama has doubled down twice now on the Afghanistan war, for what ends? Al Qaeda numbers in the dozens in that country, The Afghan and Pakistan government are doing deals with the Taliban, so why are we there? Oh, yeah, that pipeline, carpet of gold, carpet of bombs deal, not to mention the trillion dollars worth of natural resources, and let's not forget the poppies.

These are but two in a long list of grievances against this administration and the Democratic party in general. Hell, even my own state's Senatorial candidate, a Democrat, is calling for the extension of the Bush tax cuts. Yet you want me to go out and work for these people?

You're going to be lucky if I vote for them this fall, asking me to sacrifice my time and money, both of which are precious right now, borders on insulting my intelligence.
