Edwards Camp Blisters Rudy For Saying He "Usually" Hears Dems Blame America For 9/11

Yesterday we flagged Rudy Giuliani's weirdly unremarked upon interview on Fox News in which he said that he "usually" hears Democrats blaming America for 9/11.

Now the Edwards camp has slammed back at Rudy, become the first Presidential campaign to do so. Edwards senior adviser Jonathan Prince emailed us the following statement:

“It's alarming that Rudy Giuliani continues to run a campaign that relies on the politics of fear. These are the same polarizing tactics that the president has used in his `Global War on Terror,' which has ended up leading to more terrorism than it has stopped. And it is the same kind of politics that has led to this disastrous war in Iraq, where America is now policing a civil war. Instead of more of the same failed policies, we need a smarter approach to fighting terrorists, that will also restore our moral leadership in the world."

As also reported here, the DNC hammered Rudy for the comments yesterday, too.

Such dustups, it should be noted, serve both sides in crude political terms. Rudy gets more attention for his efforts to hyper-politicize 9/11 in order to dupe GOP primary voters into overlooking his pro-choice and pro-gay-rights statements. And Edwards is out front in defending the Dems' honor, something that may hold equal appeal for the Dem base.

3. Yes he does! I was able to actually meet him at the California

State Dem convention last month. He was incredable! There were a bunch of handlers telling me to move along, and he stopped to talk to me. I give him a present for Elizabeth. My sister makes jewerly to support breast cancer research. My mother and 3 sisters have had BC, he stopped and listened intently to what I had to say. God I hope he wins!

4. I do not support Edwards, but this is the kind of backbone that the

Democratic Party has needed for years! Stand up, grab the SOB by the collar, slam him up against a wall and say, "What the fuck did you just say to me?" The whole Party should take notice of Edwards' lead and start fighting back, now. Don't wait, don't triangulate, don't rationalize, just kick them in the ass and ask, "What are you going to do about it?" Good for Edwards!

And add: Look for every opportunity to connect the/a reply to the other things you're saying publicly. Don't let the media dictate what you talk about.

Edwards is also not at the top of my list but agree we need more Democrats willing to stand up to these fear- mongers and give them a good ass-kicking. Way to go John Edwards.

9. Kick -- the Rudy grandstanding moment was sickening -- he needed to be taken to task.

That degenerate, corrupt scoundrel Giuliani thinks he owns 9/11 as a brand name. Someone needs to tell him that Winston Churchill, he ain't.
