GOA Tells Navy That The LCS Mission Modules Don't Work
Edited on Thu Sep-02-10 05:59 AM by unhappycamper
unhappycamper note: Since the Pentagon has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, I’ve decided to give ya’ll an unhappycamper summary of the article and a link to the OP. To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.

To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

(This space reserved for a legally correct snark dump.) It sure is beginning to smell like fascism.

unhappycamper summary of this article: Let me see if I understand this correctly: We spent $1.288 billion dollars for two of these pigs in a poke, the Navy orders two more keels laid, and you folks don't have mission modules to do whatever it is you do? What a waste of bucks. Spin it any way you want, but this is a waste of bucks. :(

Beyond the conceptual challenges revealed by simulations, it now appears that the LCS mission modules themselves are in real trouble. The tenacious watchdogs at the Government Accountability Office tell lawmakers that the mission modules aren’t working, face serious delays and that work on the anti-submarine warfare package has been suspended: “Recent testing of mission package systems has yielded less than desirable results. To date, most LCS mission systems have not demonstrated the ability to provide required capabilities.”
