Afghanistan bomb attacks kill twenty-one US soldiers in 48 hours
Twenty-one American troops have been killed in Afghanistan since Friday in one of the bloodiest periods of the summer.
A series of bomb attacks have badly hit US troops in eastern and southern Afghanistan in the past 48 hours.

The death toll among in the Nato-led coalition has reached 484 this year and is predicted to far surpass 2009’s total of 521.

The coalition blames the rise in troop deaths partly on the influx of reinforcements, which is allowing commanders to target previously untouched insurgent safe havens where rebels are mounting stiff resistance.

Gen David Petraeus, senior US and Nato commander in the country, warned last week fighting would “get harder before it gets easier”.

1. NOw that Obama has "won" in Iraq (thereby removing Bush's War from the equation), he
fully and solely owns the Afghan travesty.

I don't give a damn if he said he would escalate it. It was wrong to campaign on that position and more wrong to actually pursue that policy.

The only chance to end this atrocity is if the US casualties reach a high enough level to make people notice what is happening. Insignificant numbers like those cited in this story will do nothing to move public opinion.

9. Like most Americans care?
Com'om, less than 1% is fighting and 5% is affected.

Let's go shopping!

By the way I blame bush for this. It could have been ended at Tora Bora... but NO!!!! We needed to do Iraq.

7. Insane, yes, but when the insane profits being racked up by munitions makers and contractors are
factored in: priceless. :P

3. Obama's War
No reason, no goal, no victory. Only death. Death and misery. Dead children. Dead women. Dead and broken soldiers.

Obama is responsible.

4. Democrats are responsible
Democrats have the majority in Congress. They could stop the funding. They tried when Bush* was in office. They have not tried under Obama..While Obama thinks he wants to do the war the right way, Democrats should have enough sense to end it, but they don't..
