Anyone heard Bill Press saying that Christians don't need
the Mormon Beck to tell them what is Christianity (in relation the Liberation Theology). He was speaking with Lawrence on KO.

1. Yes... I did...
While it didn't come off especially well, I don't think he was meaning it to be an attack on Mormonism, but he may well get tagged with this...

2. I don't know if he was attacking Mormons
However, there is a world of difference in Mormon beliefs compared to Protestant religions.

3. I think that is the point he was trying to make...
but it has to be approached gingerly, i think...

8. Actually Mormons are at odds with Catholic, Orthodox, and protestants
and all the rest of historic xtianity. Mormons believe they hold the restored gospel and that the rest of the xtains are apostates

4. I heard Bill on his morning show this AM
saying that Beck doesn't even know what Liberation Theology is, and that he (and I didn't know this) actually spent 6 years in Theology school, and based on this, he doesn't need to have Christianity explained to him by a Mormon.

btw, Liberation Theology is embraced in Matthew 25's call for aiding the sick, the poor, and those in prison.

7. My favorite cousin was a Liberation Theologist
He had a PhD in Divinity from Columbia U. The RWs murdered him in the middle of the ideological war here in the 1980s.

5. He said it just right.
One of the reasons that I think Bill Press is one of the best progressive radio hosts there is today is because he is NOT 'bipartisan', doesn't play word games and he speaks boldly and directly.

A Mormon layman, convert especially shouldn't be telling Christians what they believe ... that's pretty clear. A Baptist shouldn't be lecturing a Lutheran; nor a Hindu what a Buddhist believes.

I'm glad Press said it -- just as he did.

9. He has gotten better though some of us remember when he used to get his ass kicked
regularly on KABC-TV in Los Angeles by Bruce Hershenson

11. Bill Press is good people. It's a shame that he is
less popular and that Glenn Beck is the FOX Golden Boy.

13. He specifically said Chritians don't need a Mormon to teach them about the gospel.
There is a fairly wide chasm between traditional Christian gospel and Mormon gospel.
