Failure To Rise

......I still don’t think people in the administration understand the magnitude of the catastrophe their excessive caution has created. I keep waiting for Obama to do something, something, to shake things up; but it never seems to happen.

Here’s what I wrote in February 2009:

"Mr. Obama’s victory feels more than a bit like defeat. The stimulus bill looks helpful but inadequate, especially when combined with a disappointing plan for rescuing the banks. And the politics of the stimulus fight have made nonsense of Mr. Obama’s postpartisan dreams."

It’s pretty rich that now the usual suspects are accusing me of having shared the administration’s optimism. But that’s a trivial point; the important thing is that all signs are that the next few years will be a combination of economic stagnation and political witch-hunt.

This is going to be almost inconceivably ugly.

I doubt that we will recognize our country a year from now...maybe sooner.

I'm already seeing women standing at corners where there are traffic lights holding signs that say they are single mothers....I honked my horn and rolled down the window and gave her $5. She said 'God Bless You.'

I sat there and cried. None of the others in line gave any money....Volvos, BMWs, etc.

It was a hot day and she was trying to stand under this pathetic little tree so not to get sunburned. She had red hair and sensitive skin...she was already turning pink.

I fucking hate greedy rich people.
