Verizon Mocking Abu Ghraib Torture to Sell Google Droids

This bizarre commercial just started popping up, and frankly, we're almost too confused to be offended. There's no mistaking Verizon's strange spokesman for the iconic Abu Ghraib torture victim.

Swap out the shredded poncho for a red robe, and electrical wires for telephone cords, and you've got a spot-on replica of the infamous photo that embroiled the US in an awful scandal six years ago. Shilling for Droid X.

4. I don't buy it and I'm calling an early bullshit

The quality is terrible the voice synch is a mile off and the actor is a putz. In addition it's way off the track when compared to the rest of the Droid ad series, not even close in tone and there is no "Droid...." trademark sound at the end. I'm betting on a scam ad and a pretty shitty one at that.

I'd be very surprised if that's a real Verizon ad and if it is they need to fire their team based on the quality alone.

Come on, really? How is that offensive? Taking one frame from a stupid commercial (yes, the commercial was dumb and in no way appealing) but trying to stretch it into an homage to abu ghraib? Really? The commercial was bad, but I fail to see the outrage.
