FYI: "A Face in the Crowd" is on Turner Classic Movies tonight
@ 8pm EST

This is the movie that Keith O compares Glenn Beck to the main character Lonesome Rhodes.

I am glad that I finally have a chance to see it.

3. Definitely watch it. It anticipates every single radio and TV ranter
out there, men sticking to a script when they were hungry and starting out but who started to believe that script when it made them famous.

We just need more Patricia Neals in the world to deal with them.

6. Thanks, Warpy!
I just put it in my NetFlix queue! Believing their own hype is weird... I've seen it happen many times, but I really just don't get it. I'm betting I learn a lot from this film. Sounds like it nailed the situation well.

2. Its a very instructive film
in light of the times. I rented the DVD from Netflix and it has some very detailed extra stuff. Highly recommended.

4. it's a horrific shock if you grew up on Andy and Mayberry
It's an incredible movie -- and Keith is dead on with his Lonesome Rhodes/Glenn Beck comparison!

5. It's a remarkable film about how mass media (TV, in this case)
can help build a demagogue. And Andy Griffith's performance is especially chilling.

8. I never had much use for Griffith as an actor
until I saw this film last year. "Chilling" is right. He brings the smarmy character completely to life without losing what little vestiges of humanity he still had toward the end, after he'd sacrificed himself to success.

It was a masterful performance, certainly his best and one of the best ever, by anyone.

Oh, I always knew Griffith was a nice guy and a good Democrat. I just wasn't blown away by his artistry until I saw this film.

11. It is a surprise for any of us who grew up thinking of him as Sheriff Taylor.
It seems that once he "moved" to Mayberry he never really got to show how talented he is again.

10. Stay Tuned for Anatomy of a Murder
and see Lee Remick sizzle even more.

I thought maybe it was a Patricia O'Neil tribute but turns out its for Lee Remick.
