Damn NY Post now going after Ed Schultz
An apparent incident in the middle of MSNBC's 30 Rock newsroom earlier this month is coming to light today.

The NYPost reports MSNBC's 6pmET host Ed Schultz, irate over not being included in election night promos, yelled, "I'm going to torch this (bleep)ing place."

As astonished MSNBC staff members fell silent, Schultz glared around the room and yelled, "(Bleep)ers!"
Fuming Schultz was immediately dragged in for a meeting with NBC News President Steve Capus and MSNBC President Phil Griffin following his Aug. 12 meltdown.

Our source added, "Schultz was told: 'If you do that again, you are fired.' He broke down crying."

Yeah right! Give 'em hell Big Ed. I can buy the idiots running MSNBC don't give Big Ed the respect he deserves. While they seem to fawn on Joe Scarborough. And why the hell are they still hanging on to over the hill racist Pat.

1. Ohh...
This kind of thing is distressing. True or not, it is just hard to see this kind of crap being published. And, yes, I suppose it might be true. Schultz is such an outsider and a novice to the corporate politics, he is at a real disadvantage.

4. Ed Schultz has very good ratings - that and the fact that this is the Post
make me doubt this even happened.

6. Same here - they usually target KO
Big Ed, KO & Rachel are gaining in the ratings while the Faux ratings are still very good but flat.

13. while slightly overstated
one poster on Huff Post uttered some truth.

"The only reason that Fox has more ratings is because it is less expensive. MSNBC is not available unless you pay $40 more per month whether is cable or dish."

Not true in all case but many providers have MSNBC in the premium package while Faux is not.

While MSNBC is gaining ground. I don't know that MSNBC will ever catch Faux. But Faux isn't really growing very much. Even Beck leading up to his big rally has been somewhat flat this month.

Look at the 2nd & 3rd numbers in parentheses - these are the groups the ad buyers want. And remember majority of big advertisers have abandoned Beck. This is from Tuesday night.

7. Yes.. skepticism warranted...
That said, Ed has a pretty fiery temper and I think, a fair amount of (understandable) insecurity. The network has definitely made Rachel and Keith the "golden" ones (for good reason), but protects and promotes Tweety Bird quite a bit and certainly Joe Scab out of proportion to his actual contributions. It would not surprise me if that doesn't tweak Ed's ego a bit. Unfortunately, Ed is not "schooled" in the ways of big corporate politics. Ed will always be an outsider, I'm afraid and he is starting to realize that.

10. Do you actually see Schultz breaking down crying after an outburst?
This is a smear campaign against him from a Murdoch 'paper'. I think he'll be flattered by the exposure.

12. I have known men that had really volatile tempers and emotions..
and that in trying to control anger, would occasionally result in tears. It was rare, but it would happen and was most notable because they were generally very jovial and the stereotype of the "macho", yet kind man.

So, yes, while I think it is possible, I agree that it also smells of a classical Murdoch type smear.
