The Rep Tancredo- Dave Barry feud continues!
Florida satirist skewers Tancredo
Columnist Dave Barry avenges "Third World" jab, pokes fun at congressman as a "clueless tourist dork."

Washington - The Florida city Rep. Tom Tancredo compared to a Third World country gets the last laugh - for now.
Pulitzer Prize-winning satirist Dave Barry savaged the Littleton Republican in a front-page column Sunday in The Miami Herald. (See related stories.) With the Super Bowl a week away, Barry paid homage to Miami and made Tancredo his foil.
"The truth is that Miami is a terrific place, despite the criticisms you may have heard from ignorant yokel blowhards who shall remain nameless, such as U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo," Barry wrote. Barry goes on to refer to Tancredo as a "xenophobic dimwit" and "clueless tourist dork." Normally outspoken and unwilling to back down from a fight, Tancredo initially reacted to Barry's words, well, politely."He enjoys Dave Barry's political satire," Tancredo spokesman Carlosw Espinosa said in an e-mailed response. Tancredo's only jab at Barry, also e-mailed: "He's not the first media pundit from a Third World Country to take a shot at me, and certainly he won't be the last."

Tancredo first made the Third World Country comment in November, while in Florida. A month later, a speech he'd planned to give in the city was canceled when the restaurant where it would have been held pulled permission, citing a potential media onslaught. Barry, who writes occasional columns for the Herald and lives in south Florida, referred to Tancredo several times in his Sunday column. Tancredo reappeared in Barry's Monday column, where the columnist advised people to call the representative of Colorado's 6th Congressional District for Super Bowl tickets. Barry in his Sunday column also offered some helpful Spanish-to-English translations, such as:

"Salga de mi camino, usted Rep. Tancredo." ("Get out of my way, you stupid idiot.")

Tancredo recently opened a presidential exploratory committee. Asked whether the free publicity might actually boost Tancredo's presidential prospects, Barry said in an e-mail, "I'm happy to help make 'Tancredo' a household word, like 'toilet."'

As far as the idea of Tancredo running for president, Barry said, "As a humor columnist, I am very excited." Barry, who's written about his own presidential campaign, said that "thanks to Rep. Tancredo, my candidacy looks less like a joke than it used to."

Espinosa said he thought the column was tougher on Denver, which Barry dissed for never hosting a Super Bowl, than on Tancredo. The winter weather and Denver's outdoor stadium might be problematic, Espinosa said. Comments about Denver spilled over onto Barry's blog, where some questioned the city's educational system, cultural opportunities and the intelligence of its residents. As far as not being able to host the Super Bowl, one person offered this post: "Poor widdle (sic) 3rd world Denver can't afford an enclosed stadium? Aaaaaww."

And ANOTHER freeper writes to Dave:

Dear Mr. Barry

Your correct Denver will probably never host a Super Bowl.
But that is fine with us we would rather watch our team play in the game.
Unlike the dolphins the Broncos goal is always the same Super bowl or bust.
The Dolphins seem happy just to finish the season.
You Might try visiting our fair city seems many people relocate here al the time.

5. Tancredo is a one-trick tool.
Quick history in reverse order for emphasis:

In May 1999, Tancredo founded the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus. He still serves as its chairman. This is the lone issue to this politician who represents Colorado's 6th congressional district.

April 20 - Columbine High School massacre: Two (caucasion) Littleton, Colorado teenagers, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, open fire on their teachers and classmates, killing 12 students and 1 teacher, and then themselves.

Littleton is the largest city in Colorado's 6th congressional district. Think about that. The worst school shooting to date happens in his home town, and he nary misses a beat blaming immigration for all of America's shortcomings.

Tom Tancredo: Tool.
