I should say I find it offensive because the implication (and indeed the implication of this entire debate) is that Muslims aren't Americans - they aren't part of the USA in a meaningful sense.

But there is one major difference, tho' I understand the similarity you see.
The major difference is the hegemony of the populace in those countries, particularly Germany in those years.
The usa (don't forget the woof woof woof part) is far more diverse.
The only thing uniting these idiots today is their stupidity or insanity or whatever plagues them and compels them into that.
