Liberal politics are at a disadvantage when it comes to donations.
I just read about the billionaire brothers that donate obscene sums to conservative politics.
They do this because if conservative policies prevail, the rich will become richer.
They donate based on self interest and greed.
It's relatively easy to get people to donate when it helps to enrich themselves.

Liberal policies are geared towards helping society at large.
They attempt to provide a decent lifestyle for all.
This in essence means that money donated will go to help others, not just the person who donates.
This is a hard sell, particularly when most super rich people did not get that way by being altruistic.
Extreme wealth is often built from unbridled self interest and amoral standards.

This puts liberal politics at a disadvantage when it comes to having deep pocket backers.

I'm just glad that there are some wealthy people that built a fortune on qualities other than greed.
But they are a rarer breed than the selfish rich.

2. At least there are some like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.
They have persuaded 40 billionaires to give away at least half their wealth to charities.

Someone like Bill Gates made his fortune by being passionate about something other than money.

Buffet was passionate about investing but from what I've read it wasn't really about the money for him.
It was the challenge of investing itself that was his interest.
