I was at a comic book convention yesterday. Rod Blagojevich was there, how odd.

I was at Wizard-Con in Chicago yesterday and was arguing with a vendor over the price of a back issue of Thor when the PA cracked on and said, "Former governor Rod Blagojevich is at booth and aisle whatever signing autographs and making comments."

I barely paid attention because they often do joke announcements. But later I heard the same PA message and people where starting to talk about it. My only thought was "Why is that sleaze here anyway?"

I actually saw him by the snack bar, talking to reporters. I listened in for a few minutes, "Blah, blah, I'm innocent, blah, blah, forces aligned against me, blah."

What an asshole. People were booing him and making fun of him. Seriously, a comic book convention? We fanboys and fangirls have no time for snake-oil salesmen like him. We have costumes to make, back issues to dig for and b-list/c-list celebrities to gush over.

BTW, his hair is fucking weird in person!

P.S.
I had a great day. Comics and Cons rule.

1. Why begrudge him? He's a longtime reader of
Richie Rich comics.

2. He's a publicity whore
Pure and simple.

Apparently, he was charging $50 for photos with him at the Comic Con. And the really sad thing is, people actually paid that.

There is a sucker born every minute.

4. A jury reviewed the evidence against him and did not find him guilty.
That's final for now. We'll see what happened next.

When I first heard about the case, I thought the prosecutors were wrong. Later, there was one piece of evidence that I found suggested the prosecution might have had a case. The verdict is in for now. That means that Blagojevich is innocent until found guilty by a jury of his peers.

You may not like him, but you can't claim he is guilty until the prosecutors persuade a jury that he is guilty.

5. You're a good person for saying what you said.
Often, there are two trials, the trial in the court of public opinion, and the real trial itself. One doesn't have to be convicted in the latter to be convicted in the former. It's a great way to destroy a politician's career if character assassination is the name of the game.
