Good News Here in Philly:

Michael Nutter, a competent, bright, accomplished former Democratic City councilman (one is required to resign here to run for public office b/c the City Charter stipulates that) has won the Dem nomination for Mayor, succeeding a fairly vile do-nothing 8 year Democrat. What was fascinating about the 5 way race was that Nutter's accomplishments and one good campaign ad featuring his daughter won the election for him. On the victor's dais last night were almost none of the Philly machine folks. It was a complex story actually, much more complex than the media covered, but the best man won...for a change. Philly is 5-1 Dem, so he's virtually assured the office in November.
