Coroner rules inmate's death was homicide
By Kirk Mitchell
The Denver Post

The Denver Coroner has ruled that the July 9 death of an inmate at the new jail was the result of homicide.

Marvin Booker was being processed on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia when he got into a scuffle with jail deputies. He was shocked with a Taser device and held to the floor.

Other inmates said Booker, 56, was then carried to the holding cell and dropped face first. He never recovered.

(...)

The coroner ruled Booker's death was caused by "cardiorespiratory arrest during physical restraint." The coroner said deputies had their body weight on Booker's back continuously for four minutes while he was face down and put him in a "sleeper hold" for more than two minutes while shocking him with a Taser for 8 seconds.

1. Inmates are products/items to enforcement. Should they break when handled
then shucks and by golly...next! Seems that way.

2. They all get paid vacations for killing a man
while an investigation figures out how to officially clear them of any wrongdoing. :(

I bet they'll officially say he resisted and struck one of the deputies, and therefore all of their force and the use of the taser was fully justified. His arm was swinging, and they can interpret this as an attempt to hit someone, so it's perfectly acceptable for them to kill him.

It won't matter that they had him face down, fully restrained on the floor. They just have to say he tried to hit someone. It doesn't have to be true.

5. When police murder someone in custody, it should be a capital crime.
We hold police to such a low standard, and that is the reason these kind of murders occur.

8. Big, tough cops
They overpowered a 56-year old man. Bravo.

I'll bet their dicks are hard over that one.

9. WTH is up with Denver cops?
Every time a new incident about a Denver cop and a citizen is on the news, Reddit comes alive with one example after another of police brutality in this city. Why aren't they being investigated by the feds?? Sounds like they are completely out of control.
