If you are a parent - and someone did something to your kid -
What would you do??

Pointed out to me - plainly - better think about it.

I did - kill my kid and I will do you - really simple.

I have so many years invested in the kid - I will think nothing more about lighting you up than a fire cracker.

I love that kid - I love all the kids on all the parade grounds I have ever been.

And I can speak venom - pure venom. I can do that efficiently too.

Let them go.

Joe

1. So are you referencing Bush**, Cheney, Rice, Perle, Wolfowitz,
and the rest of the PNACer's who were itching to get this Iraq war/occupation on? From my perspective these are the lying assholes who sent your son and so many other sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, into this miserable mess of kill or be killed.

I really don't know what you're referencing.

12. Yes - that's what he's addressing.
Hey Joe - is your son still home or has he been shipped out again?

How are you holding up?

2. We have had a couple of teachers do that to our kids over the years
Generally threats to litigate or file complaints in such a way that the NEA coverage will not apply, the union will not support them, and the school district will let them swing in the wind are sufficient. It helps to have a senior teacher as the mother of the child when that becomes necessary.

The other approach is to teach your child to stand up for an defend themselves verbally and physically against any aggressor, even adults. The well armed are rarely if ever attacked.

4. There are a million ways to skin a cat.
If you want to skin one.

You might be able to litigate. Maybe. But really the court that counts in this is the public.

Anyway, with every breath I take I hold back the venom inside me about this.

I do know something I don't want to know.

And you will probably delete this too, moderator.

Maybe you should.

of the INVADERS killing THEIR children will find each and every one of those million ways and more.

10. Exactly right. A lot of innocent Iraqi children have been killed too
and of course American kids.

Horrible. All of it.

13. This sounds terrible -
I don't really care about them. I am sorry they are where they are - I really am. But some of them are bad too.

I only speak about American kids - they should speak about theirs.

And they would be right to do so.

But I will say - emphatically - our american KIDS had nothing to do with this outrage - they just got stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Dumb kids.

14. They are ALL children of this earth with mothers and fathers who
love them.

People who don't care about other people's children are part of the problem, imho.

The Iraqis had NOTHING TO DO with 9/11.

5. What is sparking this tirade of yours?
Are you talking about something in the news or just a hypothetical?

8. Just a hypothetical.
Hypothetically, what if you did know something really, really bad.

What if you had something to do with stopping it from ever coming forward - cause you thought it could do more harm than good - what if??

22. I had a similar conversation recently...
About teachers having sex with their students. Someone told me it was a natural thing for kids to fantasize about their teachers, sexually, and that he wished his fantasy had come true like the kid in question... news du jour that day.

I lost it. Completely. I'm still disgusted. If it's natural for a teacher to have sex with a student, and it should be forgiven, then someone better forgive me when I kill that teacher for touching my kid, because it's a purely natural response for me to want to kill that teacher.

I'd be in jail, no doubt, if anyone hurt my kid. Irish hothead with ultra-mega-strong parental instincts.

26. Probablyt doesn't matter -
BUT -

It would have been a great thing for me - the 17 year old male - to get the algebra teacher. And man, a lot of us thought that way. We hung around her hoping. Many of us.

SO I hear teachers crossing the line - and I think - male or female??

It is really different. To me, anyway.

Terrible isn't it??

29. As a mother of two sons...
Yeah. Totally sick. Kids shouldn't get everything they want; not everything they want is good for them. It's hard enough to keep a 17 year old male libido in check without that kind of crap happening to an impressionable kid. I had a crush on my American Lit teacher... would have been bad, bad news for me had that fantasy come to fruition. I don't think the sex of the kid matters at all.

15. How old is the kid and what was the degree of the offense?
Edited on Thu May-17-07 05:11 PM by Breeze54
I tore my youngest son's (age 8 at the time) 2nd grade teacher to shreds verbally, for berating
him about a fucking school fundraiser sales pamphlet he forgot to return to the school. :grr:
But as they got older, I had to try to see what they (my kids) may have done to bring it on.
Yesterday, the same son (18 now), had his cellphone taken away and was angry at the school and
blamed them as being unreasonable to him and he was royally pissed off because he needed me
to go to the school and get the phone back for him. I went but found that my 'little angel' :sarcasm:
had been lending out the phone, in class, to other kids and it was ringing in the class. He made
a choice to break the rules and suffered the consequences and I don't blame the teacher at all!
The kids are not always innocent.

18. Hey, we know our teenagers are no angels -
far from it.

But I will tell you - I believe those same dumb kids sent into a fight - they are relatively.

You know how bad you have to get before you could kill without question - our kids can't do that.

These are OUR kids - they had no idea what they were walking into - they got sold a "bill of goods" and they bought it.

I have watched so many kids walk thru so many parade grounds for so long - they were not all angels - but they were good kids.

None of them deserve this shit - not one. This isn't WWII.

25. I agree this war in Iraq is wrong and no one deserves this shit!
Not being shot at and maimed and blown up and all the rest.
The Iraqi's certainly do not deserve this but I do question.
I wonder about the troops that are re-enlisting to go back!
What the hell is up with that?! I don't get it at all!
I do feel your pain, Joe. My oldest son made it back but
he's still not free and clear of the military and going back.
He still has time left on his 8 years and they added time
to that when he got back! He knows the dates are wrong but
he doesn't think he can fight it. he's in a really prickly
situation. His company has been disbanded, so, if he gets
called he could be reassigned to ANY CO. going there in the
next year or so. So now he's thinking that the way to avoid
being sent back to Iraq is to join the Coast Guard for the
remainder of his time. I don't want him to do that! But I
also don't want him going back to Iraq. Big dilemma and he
says there are CO.'s getting ready to go. I'm just hanging
on with white knuckles for this freaking terror ride to end!!

PS. I was responding to your mention of kids. I was replying
when there were only five posts but it took me longer to type
out what I wanted to say. Your OP didn't mention Iraq.

Makes sense to me.

How many of those kids you think really want to be there??

Remove them from peer presure - you get a real honest answer then.

And its not too many.

Your kid makes sense to me.

20. The people I am thinking about are NOT kids.
The people I am thinking about DID know better.

And did it any way.

Those kids are OK. People I am thinking about, they are NOT ok.

In fact I'll go this far - I don't think any regular army had anything to do with what I know.

I know some that quit over it.

That is why they will have a problem. Cause some of them - they took pictures and other things.

They did know better. At least enough to cover their ass.

Look, anything I say - it is hearsay - it is. But in a telephone call or two - it won't be that anymore.

It will start there.

Joe

21. I feel the same
Every face I see... those youngsters in uniform who are around the same age as my three kids... It's all I can do not to be red-faced and furious all the time.

All I can do is carry a sign when others do, or a candle... write emails, letters... sign petitions, make phone calls.

My hat is off to all the parents.

28. There just might be something else coming.
Sorry about the algebra teacher thing - but it is true. One thing - I can't lie - very well.

There was this time - in the battle of Gettysburg - that a certain general went way out in front of the center - And what Meade said was - just wait a little and he will come tumbling back - if he can - That is where we are now.

So, just wait a little.

Joe

I appreciate what you tried to do for me - really. I am too far gone now.
