I am ashamed to admit it, but when I saw the headline, I experienced a momentary thrill and a deep satisfaction, even a bit of the warm friendlies.
As is the case for pretty much everyone, we all think we are doing the right thing. It is such a pity that there are those in a position to really hurt people and manage to do so, their crooked mental scales so mangled and askew that they don't even know how fu*ked up they really are.

at the pearly gates...it's been a few decades since I've been anywhere near a Catholic Church, but for some reason..I envisioned the conversation. Then I got all confused...would he have gone straight to hell, or does everybody visit with St. Peter first?

His faith does not allow of any extraneous visits to St. Peter, or anything like that. If one allows a little freedom to imagine his surprise at his ultimate destination, given his twisted ideas of social responsibility, the scenarios get pretty interesting.
