Graffiti at the Capitol? Not helpful.
I need to say this: I am not very happy with the person who spray-painted graffiti on the Capitol.

I'd like to think it was a right-wing plant who was trying to discredit the anti-war protesters. But who knows? In any crowd of that many people, there will be a few complete nuts. I hope the person is found, arrested, fined for the cost of the clean-up and spends a little time in jail.

No pics have been produced of the graffitti, AFAIK.

And I think the people who did the graffiti are ignorant assholes

24. The Washington Post has published false stories before
Where are the photos of the graffiti? How could anyone get close enough to spray graffiti? Why aren't there photos?

I'm deeply suspicious of this story. Reminds me of all the lies about when Clinton left office.

28. see post 12, the" HIll "story is the first I read on this
Just because there were no pictures doesn't mean it didn't happen. I also read an AP story on it, again with no photos. I think the Capitol cleaning people cleaned it up very quickly (if it happened). I would like to see an inquiry on this story. I think a congressman is already asking questions on why the Capitol police didn't stop them from doing this.

Yes, the Clintons got lied about when they left office re the office eqipment.

3. IF it happened at all
You can probably bet a dime to a dollar it was done by the other side to make our side look bad.
We don't do those types of things. They do.

5. Why are you pushing a new thread on this
instead of doing a search and finding that this story is false.

To me it appears you just want to inflame the issue.

10. Is the story false?
If so, then that is a relief.

No, I am not trying to "inclame" anything. But I do think it's important -- when such things DO happen -- to defuse the arguments of people who say "look at the state of the left, tsk, tsk." It is important to say that we disapprove of crap like that.

20. How far we have fallen since the 60's
when a little spray paint on the sidewalk causes all this chatter. It wasn't nice, peaceful, organized protests with preprinted signs that ended that war. It was in your face, fighting in the streets, DEMANDS for peace. There was bloodshed and riots and clashes with police galore.

If that is the biggest concern, a little spray paint and fear of a tsk or two, we might as well give up completely, because the spine that this party needs so desperately is totally gone.

Men and women are having their lives altered (physically and mentally) everyday, some ended completely and we are getting our nickers in a twist over a little bit of spray paint on the sidewalk?

"We're never going to survive unless we get a little crazy", that song runs through my head everyday. It reminds me as well as gives me hope that we will all stop acting like scared little bunnies and come out like the mother bears we need to be to really get the job done.

Did it ever occur to you that the reason that a little spray paint on a sidewalk made headlines was because it was the only thing that happened that was worth headlines? And even in reporting that story they had to embellish it to make it sound like they had painted ON the building, which is so far from the truth as to laughable.

Tsk, Tsk, indeed.

6. Agreed
The lesson: when/if you attened a protest and see anyone doing something like that, ask them to stop or tell the police (whom I heard let it happen anyway). It doesn't help matters at all.

I didn't see this. Frankly the Capitol is too well guarded for that kind of thing to happen. They have their own police force.

11. Thanks for sharing!
I want to know...are you my mom? When my mother and I talked after my trip to DC that is the only thing she had to ask about! Let me say that Saturday the mall was a sea of humanity. People were shoulder to shoulder literally! Taking a stand to try and improve this chaotic nightmare that this administration has brought down upon our heads, and that is all you can ask about. So very sad! Peace on earth, Kim

No, not really. I wish I could have made it. I would have liked to have been part of the protest. But I also don't like giving the right-wing radsio talkers that kind of ammunition. Do you?

14. Remember last year?
When they had the video on You Tube of the guys spraying graffiti on Air Force One?

It was faked, but so well done the Air Force actually checked the plane to be sure. Goes back to what I have said in previous posts, you can no longer believe any photo evidence.

17. OK, folks, let me rephrase
IF SOMEONE really spray-painted graffiti on the Capitol, then I am not very happy with the person.

IF THE WASHINGTON POST AND THE ASSOCIATED PRESS WERE RIGHT, then...

I'd like to think it was a right-wing plant who was trying to discredit the anti-war protesters. But who knows? In any crowd of that many people, there will be a few complete nuts. IF IT HAPPENED, then I hope the person is found, arrested, fined for the cost of the clean-up and spends a little time in jail.

------------

Happy now? I got that information from credible sources. And I expressed a legitimate opinion.

22. Personally, I'd be more concerned about the chimp
defecating on the Constitution. Unlike the moral, constitutional, environmental and financial damage to the nation the chimp has caused, there was no lasting damage to the Capitol building.

I'm happy the protestors were allowed to express theiir first amendment rights by the capital police. Kudos to all involved.

whether this "spray paint" was paint or spray chalk? IIRC there was a claim the sutff was cleaned quickly. Chalk claens quickly and comes in a spray form.

I never expressed "outrage." I merely pointed out that somebody didn't do the cause a lot of good (assuming the incident happened, as the AP and Washington Post reported) when he/she used spray paint at the Capitol.

Perhaps it was a right-wing plant. It would fit the pattern of dirty tricks used by the right. Or, maybe somebody just used poor judgement. Or, maybe it was all made up. In any event, it sucks.
