Facts be damned. Maybe they're just going to do what's "wise."

For fuck's sake.

Could the mosque be moving? They're in talks.

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2010/08/17/paterson-king-hope-for-mosque-compromise/

Here's my favorite line:
"“I hope that they type of cultural understanding that they’re trying to promote when they build the center could be practiced right now,” Paterson said."

Nice rhetorical move: prove to us that you're sensitive by doing exactly what we tell you. If you don't, then you're really not sensitive, and therefore we should not trust you once you move into the area. Then you're being the jerks and not us.

1. Today..on the radio, I heard that there has been a total denial that there are any plans to move.

2. Kinda hard when they don't have the cash to buy the building they have now.
And there isn't a lot of Manhattan property rendered useless by having a plane fall on it that's there for the taking.

I'm really appreciating the endless ranting hysteria from both sides now.

4. Did you read this part of the article?
"New York Gov. David Paterson plans to meet with developers of the controversial ground zero mosque as early as this week to offer them state land – at another location – for their cultural and religious center. Paterson told Congressman Peter King about the meeting, and King said the governor asked him to make it public."

Now, this is probably unconstitutional, but I imagine that's going to be a part of the talks.

6. That's the really weird thing about Paterson's role here

Offering state land to a religious organization for a religious purpose is a real topper of dumb ideas here.

I fully support the right of these folks to build whatever they want but, no, they don't get state land to do it on.

Caving in just encourages the bullies. This madness has to stop.

10. Rational citizens.
And I'm assuming Paterson is a Democrat. And Peter King, if I recall, is a repub. So it seems Paterson is doing the bidding of King.

But there's this: "Sources tell CBS 2’s Kramer that Gov. Paterson is concerned that Mayor Mike Bloomberg, a staunch supporter of putting the mosque at ground zero, and President Barack Obama, might be advising mosque leaders to dig in their heels and insist on the present location."
***So maybe Obama thinks there's some wisdom in keeping it there. Too bad he doesn't want to say so.

11. The offer is dumb, establishment clause
but shows just how sickly weak one side is... battered syndrome indeed.

12. They should just put it in a field in PA.
Wonder what the reaction would be then?
