From 96, but I can't imagine it's improved much.

And Moshe Adler's interesting take on why you should want to pay MORE in taxes....

1. Improved much? If anything, with the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, it's gotten MUCH worse.

2. The Ben Stein reference is a bit of extra salt in the wound
Given his disdain for America's unemployed/impoverished.

3. Thank you very much. There are so many DUers who keep proposing regressive taxes, and refuse to
understand just how badly poor people are hit.

The federal gas tax, however, that environmentalists and DUers keep wanting to raise, while not a local tax, is the same... very much harder on poor people.

And isn't effective... rich people, who use the most fuel, just laugh, and pump more.

I don't know what it will take for "liberals" to understand this.

4. There is a way for Democrats to be the taxpayer friendly party
But some of you here won't like it:

No tax audits for any American who makes under $100,000 a year. We trust the American people to be honest. They (the other party) don't.

5. It's always about what's left
For a poor person who does not even start out making enough to live on, ANY tax paid is an unbearable burden, but for a Richie-Rich person who ends up with 50Mil after taxes?..well I have little sympathy for their "tax burden". It IS a bottom line issue. The first $50K should be tax free, and the tippy-top should be at 1950's rates:)
