What is Obama doing about jobs ?
I know he has his plate full of RW nonsense and legitimate business, but I can see a big setback coming in November if a lot more isn't done about jobs. Yes, I know the R's are obstructionists but... not a good excuse.

3. Umm, you little chart there is about four months out of date,
Perhaps you could try being a bit less disingenuous and admit that the job numbers are still in the tank.

8. disingenuous?
The only disingenuous people are these shady fuckers saying Obama isn't doing anything about jobs and that the obstructionist republicans in Congress aren't too blame for more action.

4. Corporate cash at record high.. let me find a link
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/07/15/politics/washingtonpost/main6680641.shtml

Corporate America is hoarding a massive pile of cash. It just doesn't want to spend it hiring anyone.

Nonfinancial companies are sitting on $1.8 trillion in cash, roughly one-quarter more than at the beginning of the recession. And as several major firms report impressive earnings this week, the money continues to flow into firms' coffers.

Private sector, yea....

5. The government can't force businesses to hire.
So, why not something like the WPA? Because the political will isn't there, even though it should be.

7. The right wing noise machine has scared busineses away from hiring.
As has the media. With every piece of good economic news the media always kicks in some other "bad" news. They have destroyed consumer confidence.

12. So you think a new GIANT spending bill is better during the election season than unemployment?
I doubt that, this year. Obama's already taking so much grief for it and isn't handling it well. Besides, many Dems in congress wouldn't vote for the bill with this being an election year.

Best thing for Obama to do is come out in a full on war against deregulation and push accountability by companies, the media, and politicians.

14. creating jobs
The president, any president, cannot create jobs. Nor can congress. Sure the government can hire more people, but good long-term jobs are created by businesses. The $5,000 credit for job creation is a really bad idea and a waste of money. Plus, it invites gaming the system. Companies might get the credit for people they were going to hire anyway. You could move 2 people to half time and hire a new person to get the credit. I hate these short term patches. They make the tax code more complex.

Plus, the main reason is that business simply does not work that way! I am a business man and have asked my fellow business owners, they hire someone when they have work to do. It is that simple. Business is not some board game where you can get $200 for passing GO.

We also need to help businesses feel confident about the economy so they will invest and hire. There is so much uncertainty around many aspects of the economy.
